Why? As long as he was not disclosing classified or privileged information his notes on a conversation with the President are his to give, especially if he felt there was impropriety afoot. Why was this wrong?
Its about integrity. Don't provide information for the purpose of leaking through a third party. If you want to leak it, do so. Don't hide.
Didn't watch most of it, but followed along with blogs and transcripts. But obviously had to watch McCain once Twitter was saying he was having a stroke during his questioning of Comey. And he probably wasn't, but that's one of those moments where if he re-watches it later he'll hopefully come to the conclusion he needs to retire. It went about as expected, nothing spectacularly damaging, but still not a great day for Trump. No tweets yet, but this seems like the kind of thing that brings about the 3:45 am tweetstorm.

Hours after Comey's testimony and we've still got radio silence from Trump. It's just so unlike him. Did something happen to him? Is he sick? Did he die? Did his handlers gag him and tie him to a chair?
In the first sentence, the "has now finally confirmed" fragment is pretty redundant and amateur as well. He should just say "finally confirmed". My boss would roast me for writing something like that if it were for external use.

Two things: if Comey lied the President is saying he committed perjury. And two, if they were all lies how was he vindicated? Someone should ask Trump those questions then ask if he'd be willing to testify under oath like Comey did.
President Donald Trump's outside attorney plans to file a complaint against former FBI Director James Comey with the Justice Department Inspector General and the Senate judiciary committee, two sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN.
The complaint will focus on Comey's testimony that he gave a friend the content of memos about his conversations with Trump and asked the friend to then give that information to a reporter. Comey said Friday that he gave the friend -- later identified as Daniel Richman, a longtime Comey confidante and Columbia University professor -- the information after Trump tweeted that he may have tapes of his conversations with the fired FBI director.
Quote:
The Justice Department, however, has limited jurisdiction over former employees. They can investigate but the remedy in the event of finding wrongdoing would be to make a note in Comey's file should he ever seek to be employed by the DOJ again.
Quote:
Comey said Thursday that the memos he wrote were unclassified. Disseminating unclassified information is generally not considered leaking and the President did not assert executive privilege over Comey's testimony.
Trump's outside attorney couldn't even get the timeline of events correct, claiming that the NYT printed things before Trump's "better hope I don't have tapes" tweet when it was after. He's just flailing.

Not unless there is classified data in the information released. In this case there is nothing.
While I'm behind Comey and against Trump, Comey should not have leaked. That's the only mistake he made IMHO. It was meant to be a confidential meeting. Not classified, but confidential. All he needed to do was make notes (the memo as he did) and make sure its in the hands of senior members of his department (which he also did) to ensure there is corroboration he made the notes right after the meeting to preserve his memory.
The leak was unnecessary. Other than that, Comey came across as a really great director of the FBI.
