I can't tell you how many times my father-in-law has told me that this is bizarre winter weather. It's like he's trying to reassure me that this is completely abnormal.

Yeah, other than one really cold snap our weather in Calgary has been pretty mild.

You thought you could ditch the Winnipeg weather but it will always track you down.

Should be an interesting afternoon. Currently +9 according to Environment Canada. And then....

Quote:
Temperatures will drop rapidly today.

A cold front approaching from the north will bring a sudden drop in temperatures by this afternoon. Temperatures may drop 15 to 20 degrees Celsius in less than an hour.

Be prepared if heading outside today.

Be prepared for rapidly dropping temperatures. Wet areas from recent snowmelt will freeze leading to slippery conditions.

I took it more as "what you wore on your morning commute may not be sufficient on your evening commute, be ready", not "it's -10, we're doomed!"

It was fun as the front came through the airport area here, north side of YYC was gusting from the north while the south field readings were still gusting out of the south. Poor WestJet 108 from Vancouver got down on the third landing attempt.

I was walking out of the airport and through the lot just as the wind changed. That was wild, I'm not sure I've ever experienced that strong of a shift that quickly before. Wind shears must have been nuts in the air

The last hour or so is probably the most "white out" weather turn I've seen this winter.

There are some patient people out there putting on their hazards and taking their time but a few psychopaths (in trucks) insistent on sacrificing no speed despite the conditions

SLOW the #### down and chill out.

That was the fastest I've ever seen the roads go from bone dry to dog####. Take daughter to her taekwando class at 5:30, zero flakes. 45min later I have to brush half a pile of snow off my car and the roads are a gong show

I knew I should have gone out and picked up a few groceries at lunch.

House plants are fair game now.

Drove back from Panorama today and that was easily the worst drive I've ever made. Somehow it got worse and worse the closer we got to the city and the Ring Road might have been the worst part? Legit could not see more than just one or two cars ahead of me. And of course only like 50% of people had their lights on so no tail lights for half the cars on the road.

Shout out to the white Audi that basically guided me home from Canmore, traveling at a consistent speed and throwing on the hazards as slow downs approached.

There is a break in the NW and neighbour is already out shovelling. More snow is coming, why bother?

I shovel in shifts or it will get too heavy or people will walk on it.

Illogical. The energy and time expended once is much less than 2-3 shifts.
