That's not fair. They have set values on all their players. If the players want more money or term or won't sign, then they have traded them. They are doing what any franchise would do in evaluating their players.

I think they’d re-sign Hanifin in a heart beat.

sorry just read cmpdave's tweet. I had heard Kypreos report 8 x 8, on Rusic and Rose on Jan 3rd. he is suggesting above that, high 8s. wow

Could be Hanifin driving up contract negotiations with Tampa/Florida/Vegas/etc.

You would have to think that the Flames have the most money on the table by a considerable amount. If Noah and his agent were vocal that they prefer Florida I would imagine the offers from each team would be leveraged on his desire to be there.

7.5 felt a bit high, high 8's and we send him packing way too much.

We have already seen 2 players turn down max $ and go elsewhere.....Gaudreau and Tkachuk.
In Tkachuk's case, he ended up getting max term and $ anyway because he negotiated a sign and trade with Flames/Florida.
I believe Hanifin might be trying to do the same. Bake the cake and eat it too like his buddy Tkachuk.

Hanifin just isn't worth that. You better be putting up ~60 points a season and driving play whenever you're on the ice. You also better be the QB of a good PP unit.
He's a solid top 2 guy, but in my mind you better be an unquestioned number 1 that does everything on almost any team to be fetching that kind of price tag.

???
Gaudreau turned down max $ and max term and left for Columbus.
Tkachuk did end up getting max $ (consider FLA taxes) and term - 8 years.

Didn't know it wasn't clear. By MAX $, I mean the highest bid in the market for their services. Not MAX $ allowed under the CBA.

$8M x 8 years in Calgary is the equivalent of like $7.2-$7.5M in a no state tax markets like Florida (tampa, fla), texas (dallas), nevada (vegas).

Except that $9.5M in FLA is worth about $10.8M in CGY. I don't think he was going to be offered more than that.

Posturing, when you can be the bidder against your buyer why not?
Hanifin will not be re-signed, gut instict. I feel a different direction and don't care to see him without Tanev after a cushy contract.

At least Tkachuk was up front about what he wanted and allowed the team to get value for him.
