Was told today George St Pierre has been offered a part in season 2, If he takes it I'm not sure how they would work in his extremely thick french accent.

that was excellent. I was curious to see how they would change Bill and Frank's story, but I certainly didn't expect something that emotional and heartwarming. Made for a great hour of television ... I thought Bartlett was great, but man, am I glad they ended up with Offerman as Bill. Absolutely nailed it.
I'm as big a fanboy of the games as there is, but 3 episodes in, I don't think I could possibly be any happier with the job they've done. Huge credit to HBO, Mazin and everybody involved ... I do hope this series paves the way for more big budget videogame adaptions.

With that kind of writing they could have pulled off that episode that way too.

I completely understand this show now.
Grizzled ethnic tradesman sees his world turned upside down, now he must rescue the Princess by taking her to another Castle, all while fighting an army of angry mushroom soldiers in order to save his brother.
Its a dark and gritty modern take on...

I thought that was a good episode, I'd rank it behind the first one but ahead of the second one for sure.
It was neat how they showed us all the back story that literally just led up to a few minutes and then here's a truck. So it could have been sloppy and lazy, but instead it was basically a masterpiece.
I never heard of Murray Bartlett before in my life, but now three shows in a row I've watched, he just happens to be in them lol... Welcome to Chippendales (great show, Kumail and Murray both deserve an award for that one), White Lotus and now Last of Us.
And Nick Offerman is always a treat in any role, he seemed to fit that survivalist role just perfectly, could have been Ron Swanson in that bunker. But then he really fleshed out his acting with the rest of the episode.

Watching with a buddy of mine we loved how perfectly the show led you to believe Bill was seconds away from being killed/robbed by Frank through almost the entire scene of interaction as they came to love each other. We were literally both calling out loud that Bill ####ed up when he criticized Frank's version of the song and Frank encouraged him to sit down and show him his version, while Frank now stood behind him with perfect opportunity to subdue/kill etc if that was his desire.
They created the perfect tension and insinuation that Bill had let his guard down and was about to lose everything he created because of it through a solid 15 minutes of television, which is incredible. To have it end that way was just so beautiful.
