Used to mostly play London/Jobava and caro kann. Now I switched to KIA, KID, the french, and Stonewall. I'm still trying to get a better grasp of how to play the positions.
I assume you are VitalyGins? I’m willywyatt, good games! You played like a GM in our first game, not sure what happened in the rematch.
Watch out for this guy. Much better than the provisional 800 rating and has a good chance to win the tourney.

Yeah that's me. You got me fair and square in the 2nd game. I thought you blundered so I didn't calculate, won't make that mistake again. Got me with Eric Rosen's classic "oh no my queen".
I am bad at chess and should feel bad.
Y'all ask me to start a new tourny, and then just bully me so hard on the board.
Give a guy a 4.75 point advantage, including three extra pawns by move 31 of our first game and spend the rest of the game desperately hanging on for dear life...he calls "bully". *shakes head slowly*.

Has anyone watched ChessPage1's videos? Highly entertaining and despite not really being into the chess scene, I liked them and found them intriguing. Good format for casuals.

I didn't watch it, until you posted it. That said that's a very common motif. If the D pawns are missing and the queens are staring at each other, you can deflect the king usually by a bishop check, and win the queen that's only protected by the king.
I think Eric Rosen has a similar trap in the Scandi for black.

I am feeling similar emotions these days. My ego can only handle being spanked by mrkajz and Superfraggle so many times before I start to wonder if I might actually just be kind of trash at this….
Luckily I’m good at other things. Just need to figure out what those are. Spelling, maybe? I’m very good at spelling.

Chess level is such a wide spectrum. We're all trash at this, with a mountain of room for improvement. Judging your own improvement by comparison to someone else who is simultaneously improving is a recipe for frustration unless you're significantly outworking them on the learning or they hit a wall. You're still improving against the overall population.

Hey IFF if you need an ego boost go look at your chess.com percentile rankings. You are better than 9 out of 10 players. Also taking into account the resources available to the modern player you are better than most chess players in all of history!

Yeah, but the thing is: chess.com tracks stats on that too and it turns out I’m not really more accurate in daily chess than I am at rapid time controls. I don’t really know what to make of that, but that’s what the stats suggest.
Accuracy is a funny stat, because it's pretty heavily influenced by what's going on in the game. In a longer time control, you are probably playing better moves, but your opponent likely is as well, and as a result is giving you more difficult decisions to make.
