well sure he'll regress a bit, there's no way he can keep his current pace going. But really, who's better?
12 Vardy
6 Kane
5 Wilson
4 Sterling, Redmond
That's the 5 best English goalscorers this season. Like Ings, Wilson tore his ACL and is out long-term. Walcott and Sturridge are obviously locks to make any English team at any time, but they have to be healthy ... and that's obviously an issue.
Sooo ... not a lot of options up front. Kane is a lock, obviously Rooney is too (I agree that he should play as no 10 instead though). Berahino could make the team too, but he has struggled a bit this season and he'll have to pick it up soon.
Posted at 70 mins This fog is not going anywhere fast. Apparently if the game is stopped then the remaining minutes will be played on Saturday or a time agreed by both associations. Twenty minutes remaining.
This was never going to be a classic because of the high stakes but Ireland are moments away from heading back to Dublin with an away goal and a fine result.
Carrick apparently stretchered off with ligament damage.
Devastating for both club & country.
Hodgson is such an idiot, it's mind-boggling. Sure, let's play the 34-year-old for 90 minutes in a friendly, it's not like there's alternatives like Alli, Dier or Shelvey on the bench. Oh wait ...
eh I dont blame Hodgson there, I don't think these two games are meaningless
England need to go up against a possession team like Spain, and a team like France with quick moving midfielders, so that they can see what it's going to be like next summer
they played the whole game on the counter yesterday on purpose, even after going down, because they hadn't been able to practice it at all in qualifying

I'm not saying that the games are meaningless (on the contrary), I'm just saying that Hodgson sucks at man management. Carrick is by far the oldest player in the team and he barely even plays 90 minutes for United nowadays (only twice this season), so there's absolutely no reason to have him on the pitch for 90 minutes. I understand that Englands midfield options are very limited, but he still had Shelvey on the bench and if he had actually started Dier next to Carrick (which would have been the obvious thing to do), he could have brought on Alli und Delph for them later.
Now Hodgson calls up Jesse Lingard for the France game. Why not Young? Way too early for Lingard, but it seems 2-3 good games for a decent team are enough to make the England squad nowadays.
