That one will be a little harder to guess.
Gotta be Fran Huck.

One has to wonder what the future holds for the Sharks. They got some of the best bounces a team will ever get in the playoffs and still ran out of gas. Their lack of depth on defense really showed in this series as Burns (34 years old) can only play so much, they overly depend on aging forwards like Pavelski and Thornton, and their goaltending situation looks a little shaky. It seemed to take forever but father time caught up with the Ducks and you have to wonder how soon it's coming for the Sharks.

I sure will be pleased if this is it for a while. I would like a few years where that LA / Anaheim / SJ circuit is not to be dreaded, especially if it coincides with the window of this Flames core. These three teams dealing with rebuild would bode well for the Flames (Now they need to swiftly figure out why they were handily dispatched, before this landscape changes)
It's amazing how many playoff runs they've had, and yet they still can't seem to get over that hump. Gotta think their window is closed at this point. They're certainly good enough to make the playoffs again next year, but I doubt we'll be seeing them in the conference final again for a while.

Don't people say that of the Sharks every year? Yet...here they were again, 3 years after making the finals. I would take Sharks's consistent two decade long half playoff success over what the Flames have been doing.

Going forward? No thanks. A good number of the Sharks core players are quite old. The bubble is going to burst sooner than later.

We also said it about the Ducks ever year and it's just a matter of having some patience as it will happen. I expect they will be competitive next season but time is not on their side and a lot will hinge on what happens with Pavelski as I don't think they can easily replace his offense and leadership and he's at that age where you know the next contract will eventually turn into a boat anchor on the back half of the deal. Wilson has made some very astute trades over the years but you can't count on fleecing bad GM's every year.

Have you checked the Sharks scoring leaders this year? Their core has already changed.
Burns is still good for a PPG, and likely still be for a few years ala Giordano, and their top 4 scorers consists of Burns, Hertl (25), Couture (29), Meier (22). That's not counting Karlsson (28), Kane (27), Labanc (23). And they still have Pavelski and Thornton who can still play a strong support role.
Their new core is not much older than the Flames. And they did it while remaining competitive.

They have some issues in goal unless Jones gets it back together. And they have a lot of players to sign or replace: Karlsson, Pavelski, Thornton (maybe), Donskoi, Labanc (RFA), Meier (RFA), Nyquist, plus Melker Karlsson, Braun and Dillon in a year.
I worked with Fran Huck briefly around 2000-01. I have some stories. The stunt he pulled as his exit strategy I should not mention in public.
I have not heard any of these stories from the family. YOu have me curious.
All I really know of is "little Fran Huck" setting the WHL on fire and being the toast of Regina. Thought it was cool to have the hockey card of a relative when I was a kid.
Who was it in the first round that kept mentioning how much of a loser he is and how the Blues wouldn't get anywhere with him?
Counting your chickens before they hatch? He hasn't done jack yet except get carried by team Canada. I have no doubt he will get torched in the finals.
