Didn't want to go thru 19 pages, but anyone know the best store(s) in Calgary to go for traditional board games?
People have told me Toys'R'Us and Calendar stores at the mall..?

Discovery Hut is a good place, nice and easy to get to at Chinook Mall too. Sentry Box's selection though is freaking huge.

Those calendar stores at the mall have decent traditional game selection around Christmas time.
Hard to go wrong with Toys R Us for your Risk/Monopoly/Scrabble type games though.

A handful of people in my Blood Bowl league are getting behind this:

We are hoping to form a league or two in the new year. I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't turn out to be a dud of a game.

It looks like I have an old friend coming to the province on the weekend so I'd better back out of the TI game on Friday, in case he shows up on Friday. I apologize for the late notice, hopefully you still have an alternate for me.

Southcentre Mall has a store (not sure of the name) on the 2nd level that sells dungeons and dragons type stuff but they also carry a variety of traditional board games.

That store is closed now and replaced by a store which sells $2000 stuffed animals.

We have 4 players able to start at 7 pm - let's do a four player game, (unless malcolmk14 can get there earlier, or someone else wants to claim a spot)

I can't commit to a time so please start without me. Member awards night at the golf course and I might be there late.

Wait a sec... is empty space a system? Also, I totally forgot that I could build fighters at my War Suns.

Picked up Black Gold. Good game of prospecting, drilling, and selling oil. Great gift for any Calgarian. Starts a bit slow but by end it intrigues.

TI3 - thanks for the game Aeneas, Rathji, and SebC. I enjoyed learning the game, and next time will have a better idea on strategy. Try again in a month or two (and other games too).

I don't realize you could build at War Suns either, that would explain why it seemed like you we're lacking in the fighters I seem to remember being with them. Certainly would have changed that last battle for you .
As for empty space, check page 4 of he rules, each map hex peice is a "system"

Gutted I couldn't make the TI3 game
Anyone at Fallcon this weekend? I wanted to sign up for the Game of Thrones tourney but it was 10 deep on the waitlist.

He wasn't cheating, he was creatively allocating his reinfircement pile.
Game flowed pretty smoothly, and we were done in pretty decent time.
Thanks for the game.

It's a complex game... mistakes may or may not have been made.
