I sometimes go to Harbor City downtown. New management and cooks, so I don't think they grow their lettuce in the toilet tanks anymore.....

My friend was telling me a story that since Harbour city changed ownership, the service is really bad. Carts went by her many times and she hardly got any food.

I went to the Singapore Sam's in the NE a few years ago, and their dim sum was surprisingly good. It comes in carts. The NE location is the only one that serves dim sum. The downtown one doesn't.

Plenty of Chinese places pass health inspections. Then again I'd rather not eat cockroaches off of plates dirtier than my dog's dish.

The really awesome part of the menu is the Russian/cyrillic, which means absolutely nothing.

Back on topic, i tend to just buy the stuff from Fortune Foods (centre street) or the store across from harry hays (Cheun May i think it's called) and steam it at home myself. sometimes not the best tasting but pretty decent. no waiting for tables, waiting for the cart with the good stuff to come by.

There's a place just west of Deerfoot on 64th that's pretty good. Same parking lot as Canadian Tire, in Hunterhorn Plaza or something. Used to be a Pizza Hut. It's pretty cheap. I don't think it's carted out though. Those type of places are few and far between these days.

I was looking for place in south Calgary that serves dim sum (I live in Okotoks and really don't want to drive all way to downtown Calgary), and I came across this thread.
So, its been over 4 years since this thread started and old places close and new ones open up. Any new recommendations or any revisions to old recommendations? (not just south Calgary places (but those would be appreciated)).

edit;looks like it's been around for awhile and just didn't notice it? Mixed reviews on Urban Spoon. I guess you love it or hate it.

I enjoy Regency but if you are coming down to Chinatown anyways I'd lean towards Silver Dragon. We do lunch there roughly once a month and I have always been impressed.
