I read something Scottsdale AZ using Twitter to send out traffic alerts.

Oh now it's up.
I actually found my original account today.

That is pretty cool! I thought that this whole thing was a lot cooler than it is though...I can't find anyone on there! Maybe I would be interested in following the wrong people (i.e. people who are just above this?). Or I have no idea what I'm doing here!

Ernie the Attorney, one of the earliest and most popular lawyer bloggers, comments on using Twitter during emergencies. Ernie lives and works in New Orleans and has bunkered down through a few 'canes now.

Bumped Thread.
Anyways, was making a couple of updates on twitter and thought I'd create a calgarypuck hash mark (#cpuck) to indicate to other people on Twitter.
Then decided to see if there was anyone on CP on Twitter.
Seems like there's a couple CPer's on it.
Anyways, I'm a huge champion of twitter. (I can already see llama64 rolling his eyes from here) I use it on a constant basis for social and proffessional reasons. As someone once said, Twitter is sorta the water cooler for Freelancers, Entrepenurs and others in the Design industry.
I personally think it's a great tool for promotion and idea sharing. I've used it to promote corporate blog posts and also to connect with others in the city.
... alright the real reason I bumped this thread is beacuse there are a slew of greaer fans on my twitter feed and they're driving me bonkers...I need some back-up.

Jesus. That's what I hated almost the most about facebook. Is seeing what people were doing that I don't care about. Or seeing what people are doing that I care about.
I just don't care.
My god, I couldn't imagine anything more horrible. Well I probably could... but...
Interesting app though.

I've been seeing a slew of new users on Twitter as places like FFWD, CTV and CBC start catching on.
Because of which I wrote up a bit of a beginners guide to using twitter (because frankly no one in the world has bothered how to explain, they just want to write about how it's going to change the world or save your cat).
So if any CP'ers are looking into it, hopefully you guys find it helpful.

That's my take on it as well. If used strictly for professional business use, it could be good, but undoubtedly it will become a stupid status update thing so I'm avoiding it.

It's kind of fun to follow famous people on twitter too. Cracked.com had a list of celebrities who regularly used twitter and posted entertaining updates. Some of the more famous people I follow include:
- Felicia Day (nerds know)
- John Hodgman (the PC guy in those commercials)
- Rainn Wilson (he can retract his penis)
- vlough
- Dr. Drew (in the hizzay)
- Shaq

That would be Felicia Day (@feliciaday), not Felicity. Others that may be of interest:
- Alex Ovechkin (@ovi8) - he's stopped posting for the moment
- Wil Wheaton (@wilw)
And if you're a Heroes fan:
- Greg Grunberg (@greggrunberg) - aka Matt Parkman
- Brea Grant (@breagrant) - aka Daphne
- James Kyon Lee (@jameskyonlee) - aka Ando
- James Clark (@JamesProps) - on set prop master
- Wendi Lynn Allison (@wendilynnmakeup) - key makeup artist
And for Toronto FC fans:
- Danny Dichio (@DannyDichio)
- Rohan Ricketts (@rohanricketts)
