Verhaeghe has set up Thornton and Montour with two beautiful passes to score 2 goals in the 3rd to tie it up at 2.

This has been a pretty good game overall. Two heavyweights going at it.

The Avalanche lead 2-1 in the third period in this tight game.

Okey dokey. Burakovsky cannot be stopped tonight. Hat trick and picks the corner from well out.

Goddam it.

3-2 Avs

Is it a thing for Avs fans to sing Blink 182 songs? Because that was actually pretty cool

Rantanen to the bad boy box for crosschecking Bennett.

This is your chance, Panthers.

Weegar may have been chirping an Av there, but that was BS from Rantanen coming out of the box. Just swung his stick high near Weegar's head, then he spears him.

*sigh* tough to swallow, but hard to be mad at the outcome. Both teams were great but Burakovsky was on fire tonight and the Panthers couldn't bang in a goal at the end despite great chances.

My opinion of Rantanen dropped a little after the stick swinging at the end for no reason. WTF was that?

It's the same basic problem with fighting in the game. Two guys punching each other in the head, and then we feel surprised when someone gets hurt.

i agree in a fast game there will be times where there is contact where injuries happen. But that's not what happened here. Lomberg went in to finish with a massive check.
Collisions like this are a part of the game and should not be removed. They play an important part in establishing time and space and the fact that players know these type of collisions occur can lead to key turnovers and offensive chances and goals. They are required, get your head up and make the right play quicker.

Lomberg did the exact opposite of launch himself. He stopped skating and actually turned his skates sideways to slow himself down before impact. That's a hockey play and Macdonald should have done something to avoid or lessen the impact. He had zero awareness of his surroundings.

He has all the reason in the world to hit him that hard. He's trying to cause a turnover in the offensive zone. Separating that player as far from the puck should be his goal. It's unfortunate the result. But again a lot of the onus needs to be on players to be aware of what's oncoming.

I don’t know if it meets the definition of a penalty, but my point is it’s an unnecessary level of effort in making the hit, and probably an attempt to injure the player.

Lomberg is 5'9, 187lbs. Good hit from him to knock down a guy who weighs over 200 lbs. This hit looked fine, he hit him right in the logo-the vast majority of the time, that player pops up and is just fine, albeit winded.

The Knights win 6-4, plenty of offense.
