Please. Wideman's on the PP unit and one of our starting six when he's healthy. Certainly ahead of Diaz.

My sister and brother in law are huge Habs fans so I asked them about him. They said the big issue with him is he throws a lot of suicide passes up to the forwards and he got multiple players injured doing it. Other than that he sees the ice well and can make plays, he just doesn't have the ability to see a teammate will get murdered if he makes that pass.

Good speed. Passes well, soft D when it comes to physical play and doesn't clear the crease of the screen.
Cheap contract still not a fan.

He'll probably sit in the pressbox more often than not. No reason to dislike this signing.

Diaz isn't great, but the signing is a no brainer. If the Flames run into a lot of injuries they will be glad they signed Diaz.

At one point in Montreal he was playing a ppg and killing it on the PP before getting injured.
Widemad sucks

MOD EDIT - Can you at least try to follow the rules?

Good signing. I think there stands a chance that he could have some value at the trade deadline.

Nothing against him in the abstract, but a small, puck moving, defensively questionable defenseman isn't what the Flames were missing.
If the Flames were to sign a depth defenseman, the defensive element should have been the priority.

Diaz, good luck and welcome to the Flames organization. I hope you enjoy your time wearing the Flaming C, meanwhile the fans enjoy seeing you in it.

Flames have now signed three right-handed defensemen this summer in Engelland, Diaz and Potter. At least there's much more balance in the organization now when it comes to LH vs RH on the blueline ... before that, Wideman and Ramage were the only RH defensemen in the system I believe

Good signing. Better than Cundari or Potter. Or having Wotherspoon sit. Can pressure Engelland for a spot or anyone else. Low risk, low reward.

Diaz is going to have the same duty as Derek Smith a couple of season ago. I am not sure why people don't like this move though. He'll be the 6th or 7th defenseman and he can help the power play whenever he plays.
