I can't even begin to describe how baffled I am from this post.

Penalty Kill has nothing to do with this.
I didn't misread anything.

Calgary plays and McGrattan gets into two fights. That's 10 minutes of penalties called against the Flames. While Vancouver plays on the same night and Burrows gets three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for a total of 6 minutes of penalties. According to the stats you've picked the Canucks are "favoured" by the NHL over the Flames.

# of PP - # of PK = which teams theoretically are being favoured by the league.

Off topic, but isn't anyone else bothered by "Yotes" a s a short form of "Coyotes?" It's two freaking letters.

Fine, if you want to go by "Least amount of times shorthanded" then Top 5 teams would be:

1. Chicago
2. San Jose
3. New York Islanders
4. Nashville
5. Florida

Top "favorited" team then ends up being Carolina followed by Toronto.

And to answer the initial question of "Were the Coyotes favorited by the NHL and will now plummet because of the league not owning them and showing favourtism", it is still no as by those numbers, they end up being 19th in the league for PP awarded and 13th in the league for times shorthanded over the last 3 years. They were not favorited.

But one syllable instead of three. Life is short.

There is media bias for the East. It's long been documented in media voting, but I wouldn't just put that down to the Flames. Although the media bias did vote Iginla out and awarded Jose Theodore.

A healthy relationship is built on mistrust, and dishonesty so it is wise to have favoritism to specific teams despite the fans. That way people will continue to put money and effort into that relationship. /Mr. Contrary

To be fair, I find this conversation as valid as whether or not the refs have been fixing games for the Yotes. And no, no one else is bothered by the short form of Coyotes. It's eliminating 2 syllables (unless instead of saying Kai-Oh-Tees you say Kai-Oats, then it eliminates 1). Here are a few others that may delight you:
Nucks (eliminates 1 syllable)
Habs (eliminates 3)
Isles (eliminates 2)
Wings (eliminates 1)
Preds (eliminates 2)
Hawks (eliminates 1)
Aves (eliminates 2)
Jackets (eliminates 1)
Sens (eliminates 2)
Pens (eliminates 1)
Leafs (eliminates 1)
Caps (eliminates 2)

And some I don't think people use, BUT THEY COULD:
Oil (eliminates 1)
Sabes (eliminates 1)
Pantha Du Prince (adds 2)

There, I've wasted the requisite amount of time and effort on something totally inane today.

There is a lot of flak being thrown at OP for charging referee bias.
I can not say I saw it but I do not blame the OP for being suspicious. The NHL owning one of the competing teams creates a motive for bias, and is a situation the NHL never should have gotten into.

They remind me of an ex girlfriend of mine, they truly need to drama in thier daily live to thrive and feel alive....or, alternatively, they could just be off to a slow start.

Perhaps they get things turned around by Monday.

Co-yotes are two or more yotes working together.

I can only think of two times ever where I firmly believed the refs were purposely favouring one team over another. One was Eric Furlatt in a Flames/Wild game about 4 years ago, and the other was Stephane Auger vs. The Vancouver Canucks in 2011. Both times were just pissy refs and had nothing to do with the NHL as a whole.
