All 3 of McDonald's goals against were worse goals then any of Irving's

When you get beat over your shoulder by a shot that came from so far out it needed a team mate calling in coordinates ... it's bad.
Add in the timing and it's easily the worst of the night, easily.

Irving hasn't been great, but let's not blow it out of proportion. Too early to give up on him.

K so Irving is slightly better than a waiver wire backup and clearly worse than St. Louis third string goalie who only has 2 games in the NHL and is 2 yrs younger. Still not good.

I loved how the crowd is finally cheering, pk going well, and the MacDonald lets in the 5 th goal.
Hey Weisbrod, just because he played in Boston doesnt mean he can stop pucks.

Irving's last start? Only if MacDonald takes the ball and runs with it until Kipper returns. What are the chances of that?

I disagree. A screened shot that changed directions and had seeing eyes. Not like it was a slow bobbler either. One of the ones that could go either way IMO.
Back on topic, rough start for Irving for sure but it's waaaay to early to give up on him. Guy was playing decent enough to get us 5 of 8 pts in his 4 starts prior to tonight. Maybe start MacDonald next game but I wouldn't be upset if they went straight back to Irving as the starter.

I think as a back up Joe Mac is better in every way. Perhaps Irving is a project for a team somewhere to develop but clearly the Flames are not a great fit for him.
Next year I could see Kipper/Ramo/MacDonald. I dont see Irving in the picture so I cant see him getting anymore starts with the Flames. For once Francis might be right.

Keep playing Irving.
He continues to suck, we got a head start on a top 5 pick.
The Hockey Gods are trying to tell the Flames to rebuild.

And how is that worsethen joeys 4th goal, where he had time to stand up and search the rink before realizing the puck was going past him at an awful angle

No offense, but the initial shot was deflected off a Blues player right to Perron with Mcdonald completely out of position. He looked out to lunch at first, but that's a tough bounce to come back from.

Still don't see how that was a good goal. As a former bad goalie I wouldn't feel happy about that one. Yeah it was a nice shot but it should have been stopped.

It was deflected by Smith! Who also gave Perron way too much room.
