The Zune and Zune store is pretty cool. I really don't like subscription models for music though. People complain about not being able to get songs off their iPod onto another computer, just wait until some MS authentication server fails and you can't even listen to any of your music.

It's been awhile and I was wondering if anyone had picked up a Zune and had any further reviews? I was thinking of getting one for xmas but haven't heard many positive reviews.

I have had quite a few Creative products over the years... They were okay for quality, both of my players crapped out a couple of times. I had to replace my Zen twice and after getting the run around from their repair people, I made the decision to switch to the iPod. I've had nothing but good experiences from Apple people and I've had my 80 GB for 2 1/2 years.

In my experience, two things were wrong with them:
1) No download store, such as iTunes.
2) Terrible customer service if you are outside of the United States.

I think you are confusing the Zune with the Zen. The Zune is the Microsoft product.

Have they launched the Zune store in Canada yet? That was the main downside to the Zune, it's built in music store was not available to Canadians as of this summer. Which wouldn't really matter if you could buy DRM free MP3's from Napster or Amazon, but, wait... they won't sell to Canadians either. What's the deal with that?

I was pretty anti-Creative products for a long time (for a few different reasons). But I am still using the same Zen I purchased a few years ago and am still very happy with it. But I am not in the least surprised their service sucks.

But for the units themselves, I also have a Nano. It is collecting dust.

I'm glad Apple has a product that people like. I just hope there is always a viable competitor to prevent them from getting complacent (and that pretty much goes for any/every consumer product)

Have you been paying attention to dates in the thread

The only reply in the last 5 months was asking about the Zune.
