Actually would prefer both of them on the forth line and Backlund shifted to wing at this point.
Cammy-Stajan-Stempniak
Baertschi-Monahan-Hudler
Backlund-Colborne-Jones
Bouma-Jones-Galiardi
I undertstand playing McGrattan against our bigger divisional rivals, but not sure he is needed against the Florida Panthers.

if they lose tonight, it's going to get hectic around here. I do honestly think the Panthers have been playing decent hockey of late, same with the oilers.
Now if only the sabres could get their heads out of their butts! (Myers did score last night and I'd LOVE to get him if we could but that's another topic)
5-3 Panthers....Going to start following Ekblad more than the Flames soon

I think Bouma has proven he can be more than a fourth liner. The guy's got some hands and can actually deke out a defenseman. I've been very impressed with him this season in all three zones, not to mention the PK. Top that off with his physicality and he's simply got too many tools to be given so few minutes. Especially considering he's still in his developmental years and will only get better with more ice time.
That said, I don't mind that lineup for games we don't need an enforcer. B.Jones can still be an agitator and Bouma can back it up with a few fists.
I was a huge Galliardi fan coming into the season, but this guy just can't get his game together. He's so fast for his size, but doesn't have the hockey IQ to make smart plays with the puck. He plays way faster than he can handle the puck, reminds me of Sean Donavan except he's not even using his speed to get regular break-aways (he did have one sweet breakaway goal early in the season though). He's shown to be nothing more than a 4th line NHLer with what he's bringing right now.

I hope this is the game where we break out offensively so the boys can get some confidence and get our swagger back. No Flames hockey till Wednesday so I hope they leave everything out on the ice

Weird. I always assumed the Panthers were bad because they had a young roster. Here are the players currently under 27 years of age:
Shawn Matthias-25
Jimmy Hayes?-24
Dmitry Kulikov-23
Nick Bjugstad-21
Erik Gudbranson-21
Jonathan Huberdeau-20
Aleksander Barkov-18
(Jakob Markstrom-23 but not currently on the team)
I mean, that's not a bad amount of youth in the lineup, but look at the amount of guys 30 or over:
Marcel Goc-30
Scottie Upshall-30
Jesse Winchester-30
Tom Gilbert-30
Brad Boyes-31
Tomas Kopecky-31
Krys Barch-33
Scott Gomez-33
Brian Campbell-34
Mike Mottau-35
Mike Weaver-35
Scott Clemensen-36
Ed Jovanovski-37
Tim Thomas-39
Also, Tomas Fleischmann and Sean Bergenheim are already 29.
Why are the Panthers so bad? Literally not a single player in their prime.
It's a good thing they have a decent prospect pool otherwise there'd be no good news for this team.

I agree with you but Bob Hartley's going to do things his way (the hard way). For whatever reason he doesn't feel all warm and cozy unless he has a goon on the bench. McGratton is a great guy and all but at times our 4th line gets dominated by teams using quicker players on their 4th lines.

Agreed, but Bouma deserves time in the 3rd line.
Cammy - Stajan-Stempniak
Baertschi - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma - Colborne - D. Jones
Galiardi - B. Jones - Backlund

Looks like Galiardi and Smith.
Hartley on Galiardi:
"“I know that he’s a very proud man but the bottom line, it’s performances that dictate your ice time,” he said. “Where we’re sitting right now, we’re not happy. Warnings have certain effects but sometimes you need to send messages.”
“Even though we’re going through a rebuild, everyone has to be accountable,” he said. “Right now, we need more. Like I said last night, you can’t win games with only one line. You can’t take it for granted. This game doesn’t owe us nothing. We owe everything to this game. It’s the same rule for everyone whether you’re a kid, whether you’re a veteran, you need to step up and when you don’t, there’s going to be consequences.”

I know posters won't like Backlund on the 4th line, but if Jones continues his playing ways like with the heat, it is not a bad pairing.

I like it. Plus I agree with Don Cherry, I think McGrattan can be a 10+ goal guy if he's given the ice time (cherry actually said 20 I think, that's probably pushing it)

Tough for Galiardi, but it's hard to think of many players who have been less impressive lately. Even when players have had glaring mistakes in games, they have either done some other things well or worked really hard to make up for the mistakes.
Galiardi hasn't done much of anything for quite a few games in a row. Hopefully he learns from this. Plus, I'm excited to see a rejuvenated B. Jones back in the lineup. Any chance he will eventually play with the other Jones on a line? That could be an interesting combo along with Colborne.

Game 23
In a NHL regular season usually around the 20 game mark you can tell about what your team is really about. So it's really not that surprising to see some roster moves and a sense of urgency as well.
Not to surprised either to see TJ Galiardi being sat out as he hasn't played well at all. His best game was the other night in Winnipeg.
Hard to believe the whole team isn't fired up for this game tonight.
Flames win 4-2.
