Unsung hero of the game: Matt Stajan. Whenever he touched the puck the man was dynamite and doing the right things.

Goat of the game: Jiri Hudler. What can you say? He obviously had a really filling christmas cause he spent more time on the ice digesting turkey than he did doing anything productive with the puck.

Workman of the game: Sam Bennett. He did everything but score. Probably the best game of the season.

Stud of the game: Mark Giordano. Johnny was solid tonight but Gio made the right decisions at every point tonight, and dominated whenever he was on the ice. It’s not that Gaudreau didn’t, but the Oilers did do a good job of isolating him outside of his goals.

Giordano shouldn't have scored that goal, Oilers would have pulled the goalie

I know we all know the Oilers suck but they just told the entire hockey world they know they suck by throwing in the white towel and not attempting to pull their goalie with 90 seconds to go.

Well, special teams have probably cost us 3-4 games this season, so it was nice to have them come up big time for us. A shorty and 2/3 on the PP tonight. Excellent.

Oh and you know how Johnny scored a hat trick in the game before Christmas Day last season, then did it again this year? Well, last season he scored 2 in a Flames home win against the Oilers on December 27th. Did it again this year. That guy loves to repeat history.

Outside of a ten minute span in the first period, this wasn't even close. Calgary outhit, outfaceoffed, had more take aways, more blocked shots and more shots then the Oilers.

The only reason why this game was close was a 10 minute stretch when they spotted them a 2-0 lead.

Loubardias and Wills speculate that Mclellan wouldn't pull Tablot for the extra attacker because he didn't want to give Gaudreau the hat trick.

McLellan would rather give up down 5-3 than give Johnny a chance to get his hat trick. Such an Oiler thing to do.

Edit: ^^^ Looks like I'm not the only one who thought this lol

A salty Twitter appetizer before Around the League:

Can someone please punch Johnny f////// Gaudreau square in the nose. I wish I was able to.

Classy.

Nice win boys!
