So that someone can say he should have waited until Friday.

There’s no way Boston is dealing both of those players and a pick. They know they have the upper hand in the Hanifin sweepstakes if they’re able to land him.
I’d be happy for one of those players and a conditional 1st to be honest. But like I said, Boston is probably happy to wait on this. And if they don’t get him, Lohrei already looks middle pairing ready.

It's not unusual to have things go down to the wire at the trade deadline. I don't think this is anything to be concerned about.

Yeah, its not really a big deal.
The fact we have traded 4/5 of our UFA's already gives me full confidence that with 100% of Conroy's focus, this will get done too.

In the other thread, I mostly had just Poitras and Lohrei for Hanifin retained, as I think Lohrei will be really good. But then I thought, Hanifin's "only" 4 years older and is basically what you'd hope Lohrei will become at this point. Still in his prime, and the better player now. Give up an injured center prospect as well and a pick shouldn't be out of the question.
But I guess at this point, I'd be happy with just Poitras and Lohrei for Hanifin as it seems the market just isn't there?

I hope we pull a 1st in '25 or '26 and a prospect.
I hope that's what comes through at the end of the day.

Might as well try to sign him and trade him like what Tre did with Tkachuk. Worse thing is try and get as much as you can and feel underwhelmed like the return that Tanev got. Knowing that the return is underwhelming might actually feel good at least. This is why when there is a generational draft like last year, you never want to wave it off as just an ordinary draft year. This is pretty much Flames Murphy's Law in effect.

You’re likely not getting either of those players for Hanifin let alone both plus picks. They’re the best prospects in the organization. Sweeney has never gone down that road, especially for a pending free agent.
If it’s the Bruins, it’ll be a prospect like Lysell, a second and maybe something uninspiring off the roster. They don’t have a lot of assets and the team has let it be known to the local media that their picks aren’t really in play this year for the most part.

He will only sign if he is getting traded to the team he wants to sign with.
The signing was part of the trade.

Whatever enough means.
I think he goes for rental similar to Tanev at the wire.
2nd + prospect + a conditional pick
|
I think you want to see that just so you can keep the negative flow rolling

What? You said a couple of days ago Boston doesn’t want to pay for hanifin in a sign and trade . Something to the effect they want to keep their assets and like their chances in summer

It's kind of funny though.
With Tanev, some people are irate that Conroy didn't hold out longer for a better offer. Now with Hanifin, some people are upset that it might go down to the wire.
You can't please everyone.
