Just to answer the topic title, I actually sorta hate movie trailers for a few reasons. Mostly, because they take up way too much time from my movie experience (now that we have to sit through ads it's even worse), and I don't have a choice if I watch them or not. Also I'm not a fan because they are usually a reader's digest version of the movie and tells me way too much information. Instead of enticing me, they tell me more than I want to know at that stage.

I don't like it when a trailer gives too much info either, but I still like to watch them.
Magnolia had a great trailer. Made me want to see the show but never gave away any spoilers that would ruin the movie.

I love trailers.. I check apple.com trailer site at least a few times a week. Occasionally joblo.com for trailers that don't show up on apple.com

There has been a thread over this trailer before,
The best thing about it, is that everytime I see the guy saying..
"Madness....This is SPARTA" I always picture Sutter saying something similar to new players.
Tangs walks up to him and says "thanks for signing me - do you guys really hit and fight that much, that seems a little mad?" And Sutter replies "Madness....This is CALGARY"

Those are bad trailers. Good ones give you just enough. Comedies though are the worst for that - give away all the best jokes.
But the trailers that are more innovative in their approach are great.
As an example check out this one for a VERY under-rated movie, Strange Days.
Not a single scene from the movie at all. But it gets you wondering what the hell its all about.

Well the comics were both written by Frank Miller if I'm not mistaken. Should be some stylistic similarities.

This one looks like a Christmas Classic in the making.

The WORST trailer ever was for Double Jeopardy. I read that the studio put together the trailer and when the director saw it (while he was doing interviews) he went ballistic because they included the twist that gave away the whole moment he had the movie build towards.
And I think movie-times should list the time the MOVIE starts, not the time the commercials start (but I do enjoy the trailers, I'm just not sure how to legally word it so the time is when the trailers start).

I think I find it wierd that they are going to try and build on the same dynamic as in Shaun of the Dead pairing those two up again.
