This is an old sculpt of Kate Beckinsale as Selene from Underworld movies, in the style of Bruce Timm. Original was sculpted in wax, pictured is a resin copy. Stands about 10cm tall. Never really got around to painting it, maybe someday.

It's for fun and keeping my sanity. I've made a few as gifts, but I've never had commissions or sold any of them. Not that I wouldn't do either, mind you...

So your kids have already been signed to multi-million dollar modeling contracts I assume?

Well I WAS going to post about the quadcopters I build but after prarieboys's incredible "act of truck" and apparent fathering of gorgeous children I don't see the point

We will obviously mock their inferior nature (compared to prairieboys kids) but post them!

Here is an RC plane I made from scratch a few years ago, cut from flat sheets of foam. Flies really well, it's lots of fun, and looks like a cartoon in the sky. Big pics. Oh, the last one has some improvements, like speed holes on the back and landing gear.

when my wife and i had our house built we took over when the walls were mudded and the floors were just plywood. my dad and i finished the interior of the house. painted all the walls, did all the casings and trims around the doors and windows, did all the hardwood, did our first staircase and staircase rail (i'm still super proud of that) and did some of the easier tiling. we also built most of the stuff in my games room - pool table, the little bar, the corner unit where the tv/fireplace is, all the picture frames and jersey frames. we also installed all the light fixtures. we also did all the landscaping and retaining walls. it was a ton of work and took quite a while but it's cool to look around my place and just have all those great memories to reflect on.
this past long weekend (family day was this past monday for us in bc) my wife wanted to change up the mud room.
she sent me this for what she wanted...
our mud room hadn't changed since we finished the house - so it looked like this....
after the long weekend it looked like this.... but i need to say something... my wife wanted 'a part in the build' so i told her she was responsible for getting the hooks. i didn't care what hooks she got, just get hooks she'd be happy with. and this is how it looks now....
my wife thought the arrow was a little much and did call me a dork when i took a jacket to the phantom hook spot and then dropped the jacket to the floor! ha! ha!
we plan on getting a couple of pics of our kids for the frames
overall i'm really happy with how it turned out.... and i'm going to home depot tomorrow to get the final hook.

I built a table. But I wanted the stain to be really dark so I really laid it on. The problem is now, in certain parts it's blotchy. And in one area, the stain actually ran down one of the legs when I left.
Can I sand these problem areas with 220 or 320 and salvage it before I put on the polyurethane?
Seems like the best place to ask. I've never sanded actual stain.

What type of wood? If it's pine or something soft it will have penetrated probably more deeply, but enough sanding will take it off. I'd start at 120 grit and work finer after you have removed it.
If you want darker stain you need more coats, not heavier coats. If it is soft wood make sure you use a wood conditioner first, it will prevent blotching.

Yes it was pine, and I used conditioner.
Instead of sanding the stain right off, I was wondering if its possible to lightly sand only the blotched areas without ruining the whole piece.
I've always hated staining wood, and I thought I could short cut this time :/

In my experience any partial sanding and re-staining is just going to come out worse. Unless someone else has any ideas, you probably have to bite the bullet on this one.
