I'm convinced 3v3 has been diluted by coaching OT in a way to not lose and to push for a shootout. This could be what an All Star game would look like if physicality was present. Minus all the actual All Stars.

Granted, there are a lot of very good hockey players not in the NHL. Would be interesting to see which current players made a jump for more money. Or even drafted rookies getting offered more up front to play there opposed to what they would get in the NHL.

A lot of questions, but SA money is seemingly bottomless when they aim to sports wash.

Hopefully they implement of shot timer or something, because 3 on 3 can be unbearable when players just keep passing back and resetting.

Brutal. I don't think this will have success in attracting key players like it did for LIV, but it doesn't make it any less of a parasite.

They will have unlimited reserves of money. What happens if they offer Stamkos 100 million dollars this summer? What will happen if they offer Leon 500 million or Mavi a billion? This has the potential to be pretty disruptive.

Good look making this profitable or anyone to care
There are a lot of ultra talented hockey players who can't deal with the physical play, lack of space and pressure of the NHL. This league will be similar to those street ball leagues, where guys like the Professor, who could never play in the NBA, dominate. I don't see any key players going there, but lots of fringe guys and guys who couldn't quite make the show. It's possible they might lure over a guy like Kuzmenko, if they pay him twice what he'd make in the NHL.

Could be kind of fun to see highlights from here. We'll get a lot of Harlem Globetrotter type plays of hockey. Doubt this lasts for more than a few seasons though.

Think of all the points the two goobers up north would get though! Screw defence it's 3 on 3!

It'll still come down to whether the product they deliver is entertaining or not.

Personally I don't think I have any interest in watching 24min of keep away, regardless of who's getting paid millions to do it.

They'll likely add some gimmicks to try to build some hype. Not sure there's much that'll move the needle for me.

Sure, they'll steal some current NHLers or some prospects who are chasing the dollar. But my guess is this doesn't last for more than a couple years anyway.

Will be good for the small skill guys who can't make the NHL I guess. I won't be watching as I already dislike OT lol

$30 million salary caps? For half a game? Who do they think is going to be coming to these games or watching them on TV to make that kind of revenue?

It’s a money dump, like they did with Golf. It’s not supposed to make sense, it’s supposed to redirect what you associate SA with.

That's something that could only happen to a pre-Conroy Flames prospect. well he scored, better send him back for more seasoning, sign the 22nd best teams 4th line center.

Not saying I think Sieloff would have made it, but as we've all pondered the Flames subpar draft history over the past 30 years, it might be worth considering the player development played a role too.

Curious how this will impact things like the draft. If someone like McKenna gets offered a $10M/year contract for next season I'd imagine it would be tough to turn down when he's still years away from getting drafted, plus then getting through an ELC to start hitting the big bucks in the NHL. He'd also get to pick his destination right away instead of waiting even longer for UFA.

It feels like it will be similar to how football (soccer) and indoor football are both able to draw enough talent.

Big point for the players, they won't mind at all. $480 million of extra cap just opened up.
