No choice for Sanchez but to strike out the side now. Yikes. I know it's Atlanta but, yeah, you have to keep on beating em' while they're down.

Makes absolutely no sense with the expanded rosters. It blew up in his face just days ago and there's no one ready in the bullpen?

I don't get it as well.
Do you guys think that it's time to flip-flop Sanchez and Lowe now that Lowe has settled in Toronto?
Edit* ugh..bit him in the ass again. please Tampa don't choke up that lead again.

Good thing Gibby went out there to discuss the strategy.
Game over.

I would fire Gibbons right now. Bringing in Sanchez for a 2nd inning didn't work the first time, and didn't work the 2nd time.

By the way, this is exactly why Buck is right about the expanded rosters. The Braves can just replace a terrible runner with a fast one with zero care. This allows Cunningham to go first to third on that single and put the jays in a big hole. First and second with none out is still a tough situation, but Sanchez got the grounder that would've been a double play ball.
September callups are just a terrible rule.

Its clearly time. Look at Sanchez's splits - he simply can't get lefties out. That's the makeup on a 6th/7th inning matchup guy and not a set-up guy. Lowe or Cecil should be pitching in the set up role depending on what handed batters are coming up.

It's definitely a double edged sword, it can either work for the Jays (exhibit A: yankees bullpen), or against them (exhibit B: today's game). I'm OK with it though, personally.

Yankees lose...but the better news is they're getting Chris Archer tomorrow.
Jays just have to do their thing and beat an inferior team like the Braves.

Agree 100%
Managing baseball is about choices. You want to replace a guy? He's gone for the game. You get 25 players to choose from.
Then we get to September and #### that! Let everybody play!
Yes it's the same for all teams, but it is a stupid, stupid rule that takes all of the management skill and strategy out of the game.
Bad pitching decision? No problem, we have 14 more relievers!
Close game? No problem - pinch hit for a guy, then replace him with a base runner, then replace him with a defensive specialist! And then we can do it all again next inning!

I really hate inter-league play. It was fun for a year or so but having inter-league games in September is asinine.

The worst part is the relievers. It really skews these close games when you can just change relievers so easily to get the leftie-on-leftie or rightie-on-rightie match-up you want nearly every batter. When teams have 5 leftie relievers in the pen instead of the usual 1-2 it undermines the importance of having good relievers that don't have drastic platoon splits.
Teams with weak bullpens can just utilize match-ups to their advantage instead of the normal scenario where you can't afford to have more than 1-2 guys that are just there to get out only leftie or rightie batters.

And (far worse, IMO) you can throw as many relievers out there as you want, and you'll still have plenty for tomorrow.
No consequences for your actions.
It's just flat out wrong.
