Flames started 5-10-1 (i think) and Oilers started really hot. Oilers also got 8 points from the Flames yet we are still ahead of them. Frankly their fans should be absolutley embarrassed

Flames have evolved into a fairly decent sized team with some snarl over the last couple years. Not a lot of sky scrapers on the roster, but they are decently heavy now.

nah... nothing that another lottery pick couldn't fix right?
oh... wait
7 top 7 picks in 7 years....annnd they are still in our rear view mirror...?
gawd, if they finish behind us again this year, it'd be hysterical...
or really, really embarrassing, depending on whether you live north or south of Red Deer

ANA is slipping.
Who cares if CGY finish 2nd and us 3rd? The major benefit is when we sweep them game 4 will be at home .
We own the Lames, the Dome is ours. You better believe I'll be up in there for game 1 and 2 doing my part. Brodie and Gio are shook by McDavid, they both called him the best player in the NHL after the first game.
We have a psychological advantage over the Flames. You already know Dr. Drai, McDavid, Larsson, Nurse, and the whole squad will be fired up and ready to demolish them. Our skill can beat them, and if they want a street fight we are far tougher than them and will break their will to compete.

The cockiness is incredible.

You heard him. The dome is theirs now, because 2 games. Quick, forfeit now!

As dirty and awful as it feels to read that cesspool of ignorance and false bravado, it's like a car crash that you just can't look away from.
I think these two summed it up nicely though:

Feels really weird and infuriating that CGY is above us in the standings

It's actually quite amazing. In less than a full season many Oilers fans have managed to totally forget the last 10 years. All it takes is a quick trip to HF to find out just how delusional that fan base is.

Oilers fans are so nervous about the Flames. A few cocky posters that know nothing of what the playoffs are. The Oilers won 3 of their 4 games when Elliott and Johnson were at their worst. Elliott has now been replaced by Moose and the Flames are a different team. The Flames have evolved as the season wore on and Oiler fans refuse to admit it

Well, in that case I hope every single one of our remaining games vs LA goes to OT

Lol. What's our h2h record in the last 10-12 years?
Edit: I actually checked. Apparently 0-4 this year has undone 15 years of total and complete domination. Not including this years 0-4 we are 52-24 since 2003. 40-19 in the last 10 seasons.
20-9 at the dome since start of 06/07 season.
Lol yup they own us.

Decided to look at points accumulated since 02/03 as well here's what it is:
Edm - total points since 02/03 = 1041 out of possible 2198 for a 0.474 winning %
In that span they have 1 lost in finals, 1 lost in 1st round and 11 missed playoffs
Cgy - total points since 02/03 = 1207 out of possible 2200 for a 0.549 winning %
In that span we have 1 lost in finals, 4 lost in 1st round, 1 lost in 2nd round and 7 missed playoffs.

Yeah, its like they totally forgot that we have unapologetically made them our bitch for over a decade.
And while getting swept in the season-series burns my ass and Gulutzan is going to have to do something miraculous to make me forgive him, this has been the Oilers' single decent season in 10 years and, while the fat lady is backstage warming up, she has yet to take the stage.

...And I hope to hear her sing in full voice in the coming weeks.
As other posters have mentioned, I couldn't care less about a playoff BOA. The Oilers and their fan base don't deserve it.
What they DO deserve is to finish 9th, following an epic collapse, looking up at the Kings and a winking Iggy.
While future playoff BOA's may be interesting, this year, I want nothing more than for this draft-pick-botching franchise to miss playoffs. Again. It can be my birthday present and my next two Christmas presents.

I wouldn't be talking any smack just yet folks. We have a very difficult schedule down the stretch and the Oilers have a pretty easy one. I don't think we're a lock for the playoffs yet and I think the Oilers are. Thanks to the schedule makers the Oilers have six games against teams out of the playoff hunt, compared to the Flames two. We have the toughest schedule of anyone down the stretch including games against teams fighting for position and playoff life. We're not a lock yet thanks to the schedule maker.

Why not? We've had to listen to it all season, even from so-called professionals like Spector.

If you look at the way the teams are playing and how they are achieving success lately. Flames are playing a very structured possession game where contributions are coming from all players up and down the lineup. Oilers are hoping McDavid and Talbot show up and carry the team. There is a lot more room for error in one of those situations.

That's exactly what one would say to deflect while their soul is burning inside. Wouldn't get too stressed. We've clearly gotten to them!
