Strong opinions make a strong columnist?

But he waffled on it after he was proven wrong!

This is the BS that I hate.

If the season ends and the Oilers have 1 point more than the Flames he'll come back with:

"See!!! I told you so!"

And if it ends with the Flames having 1 point more than the Oilers, and remember, nobody had a gun to his head when he wrote that in the first place, and it wasnt an opinion, he stated it as a fact without qualifiers then he comes back with:

"Strong opinions make a strong columnist."

You have to learn how to Weasel out of things, its what separates 'Strong Columnists' from the animals. Except the Weasel.

Reading that article is like reading an article written by an Oiler homer on HF. Such a joke of a columnist, he's biased to the extreme and tried to rub it in the Flames face. Terrible

Irresponsible? Sheesh. We're writing hockey here, not solving world hunger. Strong opinions make a strong columnist. I stand by it.

@SportsnetSpec Mark, in retrospect, was it irresponsible to predict the Flames couldn't catch the Oilers with so much hockey left?
No, Spector, you idiot. Strong opinions make one an ignorant, intractable boor.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not giving him hits. And I'm not giving his employer ad clicks, either. Online news sites don't give a damn about hit counts if the advertisers aren't paying.

The Oiler fans comments are the reason why I want LA and St. Louis to blow by them. That is what that smug fanbase deserves. Their first good season, and they somehow start looking down at other teams and fanbases? Give me a break. I really hope that they miss the playoffs, and if they do make it, I hope it is the Flames that play them so we can wipe that smug smirk off their collective faces and replace it with some humility.

As for Spector - he is a door knob. Everyone - and probably Edmonton fans even - know this.

I can, however, forgive him for his comment. He doesn't realize how the 29 other teams operate. If it was the Oilers sitting back by 9 points at the same time, everyone knows they would have gone belly up and started preparations for their draft party. I mean, not once did that team ever make up ground on anyone in 11 years...

This is why you never feel sympathy for a rival fanbase during their tough times. NEVER.

I sent a friendly message to my Oiler fan friend today just asking if he was surprised to see the Oilers and Flames tied and if he was getting nervous at all.

...

...

*deafening silence*

This is the same guy earlier in the year who was calling Gulutzan "Eakins 2.0" and Gaudreau a "cancer" that you couldn't win with. He was also saying that this looks like a "failed rebuild" for the Flames, and that they'll likely have to jettison this core and start again soon.

Eff him. He can't take it, even though he couldn't wait to dish it out. I told him not to get too cocky, but he couldn't help himself.

This, my friends, is the Oilers fanbase in a nutshell.

The point is, don't be too hard on Spector. He's just a symptom of the problems with this group of people.

These guys love hate mail. It's a source of pride. They print it out and tack it to their office cubicles.

I think a fun project for CalgaryPuckers would be to help design a new civic flag for teh Edmittens.

BS excuse..The Flames are a better team..period.

Oilers suck at defense. Used to be decent when they played a man on man system but since they went away from that, they're one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

They're not fast enough to close the gap when they're not marking their man. McD and Drai are too young and have never learned the defensive side of the game.

Recipe for disaster when one player in your top 6 can p,ay some defence.
