My thinking wrt goal celebrations is let your play speak for you. You just beat someone else, no need to overreact and rub it in more - they already don't feel good about it and if anything will only be fired up after seeing you act like a jackass. That said, it's not really anything to get worked up over. Didn't like the celebration, wouldn't have liked it if a flame player did it. Fist bumps and back to the bench is more my style.

Also don't agree with the argument that players who celebrate flamboyantly have more heart or more drive to win. Some guys just show more emotion than others it's as simple as that.

well then why would i bet? I bet you Wideman will get more points than Nick Schultz.

28 more hours until no more Stang until June when it's cup day for the Oilers.

Nick Schultz has never had more than 20 points in a season in the NHL, who would ever take that bet?

We've dominated them for more than 5 years. They'll be our bitch on Saturday night and Easter will rain down on the hillbillies up North.

Exactly.

The crowd was into it just as much as he was. Sports are entertainment. There's nothing wrong with making them entertaining. The guy slid on his knees on the ice....big woop. I would prefer more of this, as oppossed to the usual emotionless and totally generic post-game hockey interview.

No issue with it at all, even as a die hard Flames fan. It is a different era, I am old enough to be some of these kids Dad now. The fans desperately missed hockey for so long it's nice to have it back and why the hell not a little bit of excitement never hurt anyone, it was in his home rink, in front of the home fans and he sent them home happy. If he did that on the road, then maybe it's an issue or if he pulled a Kovalchuk that time at the World Juniors and was celebrating on the way to an empty net then it's different. The team (from their perspective) were getting screwed all night, they got slaughtered a few days earlier by the Sharks so there was a lot bottled up inside.

It's Edmonton.

None of this is unexpected.

There's been tons of bull**** chants at the Dome over the years, it was our go to chant whenever we felt like we were getting screwed. Thankfully we've replaced any spontanious emotional outbursts with sitting quietly in our seats until the game ends.

Cory Sarich and Dennis Wideman talk about the celebration.

They don't say that they'll take his head off if he does something like that against the Flames...but they don't say they won't take his head off.

I wonder if he would have done the same thing if the game was in L.A.
