I thought this was funny.
Quote:
It started with a simple response from Bayern Munich in anticipation of its Champions League date with Arsenal.
But things quickly got out of control when a troll's disgust with the dab sparked an all-out attack on English clubs.

Yeah ... 9th place Leverkusen and 10 points out of a CL spot really showed Arsenal.

Truly a great player - I remember being impressed with him at World Cup 2006 which in IMO was his coming out party as a top class player.

I dont think this was expected, he has a year left on his contract and I thought he had said that he was going to play that out and not renew.
What surprises me is that they apparently offered him Sammer's job as Sporting Director and he turned it down.
He just wants to be done I guess.
And yes, its no secret that I'm a huge, yuge, fan of Lahm, hes great! I identify with and respect him. Just an excellent player that went about his business extremely well, represented his club and country extremely well, no muss, no fuss, no scandals, no idiocy, just steady.
If there were an athlete role-model to point towards I'd start with him.
And the sad part is that the very thing I respect about him got him overlooked for most major individual awards. A huge, yuge injustice. But it says a lot about where we are today.
Just being excellent at what you do isnt enough anymore.

Perhaps devo22 can comment further on this but some of the talk around Lahm makes it sound like he was considering the Sporting director role with Bayern, but now that Hoeness is back in the fold he doesn't want the position (at least now). Those two don't appear to be on the same page at all.
Lahm is one of the best Germans ever and truly one of, if not my favorite, players to watch.

yaah he was offered the post, but he turned it down. I think it's the right decision tbh because you already have two alpha males with Rummenigge and Hoeneß, plus behind the scenes there's Michael Reschke, who's the mastermind behind their transfer strategy. Lahm would have been nothing but a yes-man with minuscule influence besides Rummenigge and Hoeneß ... remember Nerlinger? Same story. Also, there were already a lot of "what does he actually do?" rumblings when Sammer had the job ... with Lahm, that would have probably happened earlier and more intense because Lahm is just not a vocal guy.
Maybe if Hoeneß had not returned, things would have been different, but under those circumstances I think it's smart to not take that job. Lahm has been in bed with BILD for a very long time, I have no doubt that he gets to write a column there and earn nice money without all the hassle.

They were talking about this in particular on the Soccer Central podcast today, that things appear, at least from the outside, to have changed one Hoeness returned. I agree with you, I think Lahm would be better served to not be in a position under those guys. Maybe one day he will be back with the club in some capacity, but as it stands now I don't see it.

So please: just £2 a month could help ex-footballers like Johnny get that feel of Louis Vuitton back.

1 goal changes everything though. 3-1 down going home would not be bad

Lots of time for five or even six. Lifeless performance from Barca.

full credit to PSG. I mean, Barcelona have been absolutely shambolic, but still, PSG played it perfectly. Verratti is simply unreal.
