I fell asleep at 4-1 in the first set, Milos was making easy work of it. Then I read this thread this morning...

Especially exciting given that the last 3-4 matches they've played have been very tightly contested. First time they have met in a grand slam.

Nadal is coming off back to back long matches too. That should play to Milos' favour.

I actually think one of the bigger advantages for Milos was going against Roger and Andy at Wimbledon last year. He's used to dealing with a hostile crowd, and let's not kid ourselves the crowd tomorrow will be almost universally against Milos. But he's been through that, he knows what to expect, so it won't catch him off guard when the crowd starts raucously cheering every mistake he makes.

I think we may see a divide in the form of 1/3's for Nadal/Neutral/Raonic. There has been a good Canadian contingent this year and to be fair, Aussie tennis fans are generally well versed in not acting like d-bags during the match.

Go Milos! Yes, he will be getting no love from the crowds or the media. Everyone Down Under is hoping for a Nadal vs Fed final.
Believe it or not the Big Bash Cricket has been getting higher TV ratings than then tennis this year likely due to the upsets and the Aussies being eliminated early.

this thread is my little CP tree house right now, such a welcome respite on a forum filled to the brim with Trump and Flames anger/despair.

So Milos-Rafa will go at 1:30 AM Mountain on Wednesday morning, and it seems like it will be on TSN 1

Looks good for Bouchard that she put up the best fight against CoCo out of the past few opponents.

Based on Coco's play, Bouchard would be playing in the semifinals now.

Yeah I'm more of the opinion it highlights what a golden opportunity Genie had than "well, she lost closely to someone who went far". The way Kerber and Muguruza played their matches against Coco, Genie could have beaten them, and then had old woman Venus to beat to make the final.

Feel bad for not noticing that Gaby Dabrowski and her partner have made the mixed doubles quarterfinals.

Federer won the first set in 19 minutes, and busted out a sneak attack too. Astonishing that he's going to keep his rankings points, had he lost to Berdych he would have been unranked. He has also never lost to Stan outside of clay, so he obviously is the favorite in that match, although we know what Stan can do. Best Fed can do is 10th if he pulls it off and wins the whole thing, but then he also has a lot of events coming up with no points to defend. Imagine he makes a run at #1 again...

Interesting stats that show that Coco really pounds the tennis ball - For comparison purposes, I posted stats of the Federer - Nishikori match.

I found myself cheering for Coco last night. She just hammers the ball and she's intense which is good in tennis. We don't need another rail-thin -ova with no emotion hitting moonballs. Coco has jumped from 35 to 20 in the rankings.
The fact she beat Bouchard skews our opinion of her, I hope they meet many times this year.
