I'm not gonna lie I actually enjoy doing the opposite of what most people do.

When I'm the seller, instead of the buyer showing up and offering $50 below our already agreed price, I do the opposite. I demand $50 more than we agreed on.

And when people send me a totally reasonable offer for 80% of my asking price I counter by increasing my selling price to 120% of my original posted price.

Instead of the idiot buyers not showing up on time, I like to invite people over to see and/or pick up the item and then go out for the day. Or give them my neighbors address.

^^it happens(response to Swarly), the adds are free. Age is not necessarily indicative of value, if you have an analog Leica M7 camera that's ten years old, It will still fetch a good price. A 20 year old 70 pound amp will still get a good price.

Price police are just as annoying: "I saw your item advertized on (obscure US site or seller with no transaction history...) and your price is too high".

I knew one guy in my office who would artificially devalue concert tickets by spamming a whole bunch of different ads with different numbers and styles to mimic many different people selling tickets. This would cause the sellers with real tickets to lower their price substantially and then he would buy em. The man was a genius.

I've done this before when my car was written off. Insurance was low balling me big time and wouldn't budge and wouldn't take into consideration the black book value which was 4K higher than their offer and only cars off Kijiji and other online sites that only had my model in pretty bad shape and ripped leather that we're obviously priced lower than what mine was worth. They didn't care so I made a bunch of fake ads and got what I deserved eventually. I had bought the car a year prior used for 10k but it was in great condition inside and out and they only offered $6500. Insurance companies need people to eff them because that's all they do to their customers. But that's for another thread.

Sounds like insurance fraud to me.

Is it?

He didn't lie about anything about his car. He didn't forge any bills of sale to show cars had sold at a false price. He merely advertised a car he didn't have on kijiji.

Using Kijiji adds to assess value as opposed to black book or dealer prices seems like a really stupid practice.

For the cars my step sisters have written off(I hate that that is plural) my dad has gone to the wreckers to clean them out, and he's given them a thorough cleaning and detailing. Every time, the adjuster has commented on what great condition they were in(and they weren't, my step sisters are slobs) and they have been given the high end of the rating that returns a lot more value. So if you ever write off a vehicle, go spend an hour to make it look pristine. Well worth the time.

I think it might be, but that is my opinion.

It certainly is a ####ty, dirty, phallushead way to go about things, in my opinion.

Even if it is I don't care. I couldn't buy my same vehicle for the offer they gave me and there wasn't many vehicles like mine for sale at the time. They're so strict with model and everything and Kms being similar that it was impossible for me to find comparables.

That actually made my day. I love getting insurance companies back for their horse crap business practices.

Um, really? It's a criminal offense. You should probably care a little bit.

What you talking about? Your posts are becoming more useless by the day. You say you have two kids and a wife, must be hard for your wife to take care of 3 kids. You're the most immature poster on this board. Grow up.

Ah yes, commits what could be called insurance fraud, which, as CHL pointed out is a criminal offence and I need to "grow up".

Thanks for the heads up, Puckluck, err, Iginla, err, Puckluck2, err, calgaryblood.

I was just messing around. I didn't mean to start a big ethics debate.
