I played 6 games of Dust Tactics and 2 games of Settlers - my 3D version.
First game I wanted one of the new players to win so I limited my ruthlessness a bit, in the second game I had enough VPs after 70 minutes with cards but waited until it got closer and then lost it when someone dropped 4 roads and they won.
Hoping to get in a few dust tactics, spacehulk and rails of Europe in this weekend.

Twilight Imperium 3 - Episode I
We are proposing a game of TI3 for Friday September 28, @ 7pm, at a NW location (details to be provided).
Aeneas and I claim the first two seats at the table, leaving space for the next 4 space admirals to claim a position. I have heard a game takes about one hour per player, so we should limit our first game to six players. An eight player game could be possible in the future.
I think we will be playing with the Shattered Empire expansion.
Please confirm if you would like to play (those that have played before will be most welcome). If you have not played before, try to read the rules and/or watch the tutorial.

TI3 Rule book:

Imperial II Strategy Card you must also use the “Age
of Empire” variant described on page 33 of the original
rulebook. This card is an optional replacement for
the original Imperial Strategy card

Sign me up for TI3.
I have played before, with the expansion. Have we decided which strategy cards we will be using from which expansion?
I will be reviewing the rules and tutorials as well, since it has been a while since I have played.

For the first game, I'm thinking the normal strategy cards, except we swap in Imperial II, and use the Age of Empire Variant. We can vote on other variants.

Most of us our new players. It does not seem overly complicated.
Update - change to Sept. 28th . . .

I would but I am away that week.
Its not a hard game to play, it takes a while to setup and get used to what to do but its a fairly low barrier to starting.

hmm, if this "heavy game" CP meetup is successful, I might have to consider hosting one too!
Game of Thrones perhaps...

Assume I am good with the new date as well. Calendar shows as empty, running past Mrs Rathji and will notify if there is a conflict that I am unaware of.

I'd be down for that one too. I've played 1st edition once but it was a 3 player game and thus a little light on tension with all of the open space. It'd be nice to have a pool of potential players that's larger than 5 people.

I ordered the updated house cards for the game a couple weeks ago - hope they arrive soon. I guess they change the layout to reflect the happenings in Westeros at the beginning of ADWD.

Have some friends coming over tomorrow for some board game action - going to hit Discovery Hut in Chinook for a copy of Agricola. Is there any other game shops I don't know about in the south that might have it?

Chapters might have it. I bought my copy there at Christmas last year.

Imaginary Wars is also a decent game stop in the south. Not too far from Chinook.
