I'm not usually one to complain about destroying my childhood or anything, especially since I wasn't a child when Aladdin came out..
but muh childhood!

It looks awful.
The genie is just blue Will Smith. Why not pull a Thanos, or Caesar from Planet of the Apes, or Gollum and combine a CGI look with Will Smith's features?
Jafar is also really underwhelming in that preview. Such odd choices.

Weird trailer. The start with Jafar seems really cheezy, then the middle parts makes it look like an epic visual spectacular that will be better than the original, and finally the ending with the Fresh Prince of Blue-Air is just cringe. This seems like a great looking movie with horrible writing and acting.

Just as predicted: Will Smith will play Will Smith.
Do they have Woody Allen playing Jafar? What the hell was that!?

Ugh. I can't believe the nerve of Disney going with blueface in this day and age. Do they not watch the news?

This doesn't look good... Will Smith already had huge shoes to fill with the role the essentially was tailor made for Robin Williams, but wow... that trailer made it look not good. I agree, it's Will Smith being Will Smith...

Yup.
My worry with Will Smith being the only real "recognizable" name in the movie was that they would want him to be recognizable for marketing material and he would look funny.
And well that's exactly what happened.

How much did Disney spend on this monstrosity? Looks like it should be a made for NetFlix special.

Oh man.. the genie just looks really awkward. Hopefully there is still some visual refining to be done before this actually comes out.

I can confirm from my lack of sleep last night that this Genie is in fact nightmare fuel.
Just such a strange choice by Disney. The Hulk and Thanos show how you can build a great looking CGI character by taking an iconic look and adding subtle human emotions but instead they go with The Fresh Prince bangs a Na'vi. If Will Smith's ego was too big to be mostly CGI then you find another actor.

Even they have better production value than that.

Doubt it had to do with his ego as he's done voice overs for Animation before. Probably a poor Disney marketing decision IMO.
Instead of thinking "It's Aladdin, doesn't matter if we don't have any recognizable actors it will be fine" they went "Jeez Aladdin and Jasmin aren't recognizable actors for marketing purposes, we better make Will Smith recognizable as Genie".
Surprised it wasn't caught in any of the screening though. IMO Genie was always going to be the character that had the most scrutiny over it due to the universal love of Robin Williams in the role.

Haha..... yikes.
Maybe this has something to do with trying to cram every Disney film into real life version remakes in a couple years and not taking their time with them?
I don’t get the rush, honestly. Anyway yeah- that looks like garbage.

Disney says they have enough material that got cut from the original to make a new movie using Williams voice. But when he died his will said that they weren’t allowed to use it for 25 years.
Oh well, it may take that long to recover from this movie.
