I found a really handy website for travel over at RFD, it's http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/login
Just login as guest. You can do a month long search for various prices. Everything is in $CAD as long as you put YYC (or some other Cdn city as the "sales city"). All prices include all taxes and fees as far as I can tell.
To continue with the South American theme, I've found:
YYC to Panama City, Panama - $672 CAD
Late Aug until late Oct with Mexicana airlines. Although there is a overnight stay in Mexico City on the way there.
YYC to Rio $745 CAD
This is for pretty much everyday from Aug until mid November.
Same deal for YYC to Sao Paulo

Wow that is an awesome price. Rio is a must for any single guy, or divorced guy, or guy who wants to get divorced.

Awesome looks like United and Continental are having a bit of a bidding war for Sao Paulo/Rio. I've found many dates for a total of $634 CAD with United!
This is a perfect opportunity for me to go to Rio. Just gotta save some money! By the end of this year I could have traveled to Auckland, Rio, and Spain! Three continents in a year is pretty good!
Thanks a lot for finding us these deals cmyden!

You can add another Brazilian city to the list, just announced...
Calgary to Belo Horizonte, Brazil - $567 USD
Same deal as above, on United.
Belo Horizonte is about 450km north of Rio. No idea if it's Brazil's version of Edmonton.

For all you West coasters, or people with friends and family in the area...
VANCOUVER to pretty much everywhere in Germany - $532 USD
Looks like the list of cities are:
Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Munich.
For travel in August (second half), September, October.
Check AirBerlin.com, or Kayak.com. If you use Air Berlin, your flight should come up as about 378 Euro including all taxes, fees.
Air Berlin also gets a 4 star rating on AirlineQuality.com so you're getting a nice airline at Air Transat prices!

I usually just go through AMA or RBC. When I buy mine, I always buy the one that gets you travel coverage for an entire year. It's usually only a little bit more than buying it for a single trip, so well worth it.
I'm not sure how it works for families, not much help there, sorry.
Last time I bought mine, it was online:
http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/travelin...ce-online.html
So you should be able to pull up a quote there.

Please note that a service charge of USD 15 per passenger is applicable for bookings made via the airberlin website.
|
Not sure if there's any way around that. Calling to book ?

It's a good base from which to get to Ouro Preto which is a nice little colonial style mining town. It's also a bit closer to Brasilia if any architecture junkies absolutely have to see that city.

Not sure what kind of credit cards you have, but quite often, certain insurance comes with the card. Check yours out.

It's the 3rd/4th biggest city in the country. The state of Minas Gerais is renown for it's cuisine and BH is it's biggest city. It's inland, so no beach babes there and it's not nearly the tourist haven Rio is. There are better places to go in Brazil but Ouro Preto is worth going to.
