-30 for the season bright guy. Trended -28 with the sad sack Avalanche. Trended -38 with the playoff contender Kings. How's that for emotionally detached? He was 10 goals worse over the season playing with one of the better centers in the league. And you wonder why Darryl Sutter got #### canned from Kings? He was dumb enough to think current Iginla and old Iginla were the same player. Think with your head, not with your heart.

Ugh, NewEra has good points most of the time but I wish he had a better delivery system then completely insufferable. Pretty tough to take a lot of posters seriously on here, just so much juvenile, petty discourse.

It's exactly that... because you're completely unhinged when it comes to this topic. You're way, way too angry just about every time it's brought up. That's how.

Sorry, I get so sick of guys like Go Jets Go who do not think things through. Drives me up the f'n wall.
Oh, and you may want to watch the stone you throw when you're living in that glass menagerie.

I agree that he's probably still serviceable, I'm arguing that teams are probably opting for younger and cheaper players that can put up similar numbers. That's why he's out of a contract (would be my guess).
I'm sure he'll end up somewhere but I don't think it's Iginla's choice to be out of a contract right now.

Wait... Someone's having a menagerie? Is that the one with eight people?

I see no issue with the Flames signing Iginla to a 1 year, 1 million dollar contract. He will play 3rd line, and will help the PP. His off wing one timer would come in handy.
He would also be our toughest player, something we needed VS Anaheim.
The fans would love it. I don't care about the haters on this board, I think it would be amazing to hear Iggy chants again, and the dome might have more energy for once.
I think the chances are low, but not impossible. Iginla would make the Flames better, not worse if it was a 1 year deal for low money.
I understand the Iggy era has been over for a very long time, but if he did come back it would be completely different, with a completely different role. Low 5 on 5 minutes, with PP time. He would certainly lead the Flames in fighting majors too.
Anyways, I would think its cool to sign him for 1 year. Flames in my opinion can contend for a cup, Nashville did and they finished in the last wild card spot. Iggy would score some goals for the Flames, than Stajan, and Brouwer combined, that is worth a million in itself..

Definition of menagerie
1
a : a place where animals are kept and trained especially for exhibition
b : a collection of wild or foreign animals kept especially for exhibition
2
: a varied mixture
a menagerie of comedians — TV Guide
A menagerie of grotesque statues stood in the garden.

Iginla does not have the footspeed to play a top nine role anymore. Full-stop.

The only spot Iginla would be useful at this point is on a line with producers. The problem with that is Johnny is not the best in his own end because he doesn't have the reach nor the strength to do what is required defensively, so he needs to be supported by lknemates who are exceptional in their own end.
Iginla is not that guy unfortunately. I would love to see Iginla in Flames silks as he's my most favourite player of all time, surpassing Gretz in my faves of all time.
I just don't see how he helps this Flames team be better.

Sources close to Jeromer2.0 have confirmed that Jerome will most likely sign a 1-year contract with the Flames.

Disagree, completely.
How much Iggy did you watch last year?
There seems to be this ongoing group-think that the man can't skate anymore, and it's just false. Actually go back and watch him last year. I watched a fair bit leading up to the deadline, and a fair bit after he joined LA. He has game left in him.
It's almost like people love to build up false narratives just so that they can be aghast later in the year when a player actually performs quite well. It's the same as the other thread with what's his face claiming Jagr is "pretty much just a meme at this stage" or whatever.
Rubbish that is disconnected from reality.
