Are you freaking out? Fill your boots Mr Pekker. I think the general stance that the team supported him with airtight secrecy for almost to two full years. Maybe he skates in FA but most likely is a shorter term deal to help him reestablish and an NHL regular or a long term flames for life cheap deal.

Big mistake not to trade Markstrom imo, he will ruin our chances at a good draft pick this year. Will trust Conroy has a plan though to trade him in the summer, not acceptable to go into next season with him, be mediocre and give up a 10-16 pick to Montreal.

Not freaking out, I just don’t get it. We spend countless hours on a non-existent marky trade talk and zero on arguably our third best d-man who can walk for free.

Pretty disappointed if the reason a deal with NJ didn’t get done is because ownership/Maloney didn’t like the compensation for retention. I hate the idea that Conroy might not have been allowed to make the deal he thought was best for the club. Now the Flames get to finish in the mushy middle and the potential of having Markstrom play them into giving up a pretty good pick to Montreal.
I think Conroy did a phenomenal job with the trades, just sucks this Markstrom one couldn’t get done.

I think its more along the lines the other UFA's said they had no intention of signing with the Flames. So yeah you have to move them before today or lose them for nothing.
I assume Conroy believes he will sign OK, and thus wont lose him for nothing.

What do you want to talk about? They're not going to trade him, and people connected to the organization have indicated he's likely to sign an extension before the end of the season.

Or they have confidence that they can sign him before the summer. Less pressure than dealing with the other UFAs who would not sign
