Thanks a lot Shaw. The first episode is on last night and for some reason Shaw had it being 16 minutes long and killed the recording half way through so I had to watch it on line on a crappy you tube link.
Good episode very little of Thrawn. But we see the change in Ezra as he's definately more powerful in the force and there are hints of real anger and hate in him now.

Similar thing happened to me, went to watch with my daughter and the recording was only 6 minutes.
I did record it yesterday, I went to my PVR and it showed Rebels at 1 minute long so I recorded for an hour and 5 minutes and got it.
Spoiler!
I think Ezra is trying to play Kanaan right now to get the Holocron back.
Why?
When Ezra's command was suspended by Hera he shot her a look that wasn't exactly friendly looking.
When Kanaan told Ezra that the Holocron was gone and Ezra casually asked where it was.
Its not as simple as a holy crap I screwed up to veer from the darkside and Ezra seems to have a lot of anger and hate for the Empire. And in the end in his mind he can point to the fact that he did recover the Bombers when everyone was telling him not to.
I go back to the coldness of using that Walker pilot to kill his friends and then walk off the ledge. That was pretty much what I think Vader would do.
I think with Thrawn on the scene now his plan is going to involve turning the rebel cells on each other and its going to force Ezra to make a choice between revenge and redemption at some point.
BTW I still think that Ezra is Snoke

I was wondering about that, my first thought was it was his brother who was alive, but we saw Palpatine stab him through the gut and basically fire him into orbit.
Spoiler!
while its logical to thing that Maul was looking for Obi-Wan. He stated he was looking for hope and he wants revenge against the Sith. Maybe he's looking for Luke. I know its far fetched, but what if he wants a proper easy to convert apprentice that's a big part of the prophesy of the Force. That would be Luke.

Any thoughts on how many years before Rogue 1 is Season 3 of Rebels?
When the series started I think they said it was 5 years before ANH, so we're probably getting close. They keep teasing the Death Star Construction. But they're really dropped the Lothal angle of why the Imperials are stripping the planet.
I would expect that by the end of the series, we'll see the Death Star nearing completion.

One of the better episodes tonight. Spoilers for those that haven't watched yet
Spoiler!
The rebels are running out of pilots, they learn from a new Fulcrum that there are pilots at the Imperial Academy that want to defect, so Sabine is sent to help the defectors.
We meet new Imperial Pilots Wedge and Hobbie, those that are familiar with Star Wars will recognize those two.
We also learn that Agent Kallus is possibly Fulcrum as he helps Sabine and the pilots defect.
We also see that Kallus was clearly effected by his time spent with Zeb, and also probably is bristling under the authority of Governor Pryce who they're trying to make a secondary villian in the place of Tarkin.
We also see that the Empire has fully slid into war crimes mode as they ruthlessly destroy a defenseless freighter in the first act. And Pryce coldly kills one of the defectors after rendering their fighters defenseless.
Whether Kallus is uncomfortable with the new Empire or just wanted to even things up with Zeb is something that we'll probably learn more of, but my feeling is that Kallus will more then likely come to a bad end rather then end up as a member of the rebellion.
They've upped the brutality a bit as we actually get a view of the pilots as they die, I didn't expect this from Disney but was pleasantly surprised.
The expectation is that they will be bringing in Thrawn next week which means that the Rebellion might start taking some serious hits

For anyone who wants to know more about Ahsoka between Clone Wars and Rebels, there's a YA canon novel but io9 has a summary with all the important stuff that ties into the rest of the universe (if you don't want to read the book).
She got crushed by a cruel Jedi Order, then ultimately betrayed by the only one she thought she could trust. My bet is that if she survived Vader that she spends the rest of her life getting drunk in Jabba's Palace working as a backup singer to the nightly band.

I really liked the more extended look at Thrawn this past week. You can see that the Imperial officers doubt his tactics but hen are astounded when he is right. Since we can safely assume that he is no longer around for A New Hope, I wonder if his fate is eventually at the hands of the rebels or someone else like maybe an angry Darth Vader when Thrawn's grand plan doesn't work.
Or maybe he is a surprise character in Rogue One? That would mean keeping him in Rebels pretty much until the end one would think.
Overall it was good, the only thing that drove me crazy was that they chose an accent and voice level that at times made him very hard to understand.
What I did like was him putting the hero's in jeopardy and then letting him get away so he could study them.
He was urbane and polite, but you can tell that the Imperial Commander didn't really fear him or think much of him.
There was a tiny detail that I really like about this show. We don't see a lot of Star Destroyers in this series, but when they show up it only seems to be in the presence of vital Imperial Interests. In the OT its all we saw of the Imperials, especially in ESB when we saw Death Squadron, and in ROTJ when we saw dozens of them.
Now we're seeing a lot of the Imperial Cruiser that doesn't have fighter bays or we're seeing Imperial Transports. Its a nice switch up and makes you feel like the Rebels have a chance in a battle. But the overall effect of the Star Destroyers is "Oh crap we're outgunned and facing the elite"
I would expect that we're going to see Thrawn using Star Destroyers

I enjoyed watching Thrawn toy with and study the band of rebels. He has the potential to become a very interesting character for the series.
I was also happy to see a lot of the smaller Imperial cruisers being used. I would expect to see more Destoyers eventually.
Part of me is thinking that Thrawn may be pulling the Rebels into a false sense of hope or security by doing this. He is learning how to bait them into an attack. Maybe he leaves a cruiser or two to protect an attractive target, knowing the Rebels believe they have a chance against these ships. Then he could have Destroyers on stand-by waiting to jump in and ambush them.
