I don't know if there is a franchise that clearly takes advantage of their fans like the Oilers do. On the spectrum, you have the Oilers and on the complete opposite side you have Arthur Blank and the Falcons. They are truly no good.

Those are returns that should be expected. No team is going to gut their entire core for McDavid, not a team that's trying to compete. It would defeat the purpose of acquiring him.

They might gut their core for a 19 year old McDavid who didn’t want to sign in Edmonton like Lindros in Quebec, but not a 27 year old McDavid.
Really the problem with all these proposals is the salary cap, that being Oiler fans inability to understand it.
