I'm Hoping Rami will be like Adam Driver, just get into every sketch like a true actor.
See: The Oil Tycoon and the Mr Science sketches.

Sarah Sherman is super funny and insane. I have no idea how her bizarro comedy is going to work on SNL. Should be interesting!

I can't be the only one that saw that list and thought "only a few more weeks until SNL is back", not realizing it's this upcoming weekend.
On the casting changes...I'm generally good with this cast and some of what they deliver. But how in the everloving world is Kyle Mooney still there?

Maybe this says something about the overall calibre of the current crew or my general lack of knowledge but Beck has grown to become one of the strongest cast members over the last couple seasons in my opinion. I was never too fond of him but he has done some great things recently.

I think he's a good part of the show but I've never found him funny, if that makes sense. In my opinion it seems like with SNL you always need people who can deliver laughs and people who can make a sketch work, and they arent always the same people, but Beck was more the latter for me. Mikey Day is the exact same, don't really find him funny, but he makes a sketch work well enough that other people can play off it.
Kate McKinnon is probably a good example of someone who does both, while Pete Davidson is probably a good example of someone who can deliver laughs but can't help carry a sketch.

Sarah Squirm? Yeah, that's a head-scratcher. I look forward to seeing what she brings to the show.

Kim K and Halsey on the 9th. Yeah, I'll be fine if I don't watch that one.

James Austin Johnson does a perfect Trump so if 2024 goes the wrong way hopefully they won't have to sink to bringing back Baldwin.

Decent episode to start the season last night. Not great, but not terrible either. Favorites were the school board meeting, Weekend Update, and the Cars 4 sketch. Wilson's monologue was also quite funny.

Yeah pretty strong throughout. Except the last sketch. The poop one. Holy moly that was cringe.

I thought Owen Wilson's monologue was hilarious.
And you had to laugh at the weird white Billionaires in space skit.

When will writers and comedians finally realize that attempted humour about p### and s### is just not funny?

The Weekend Update tribute to Norm was nice. Glad they did that.

Since that is false I’m going to say never. That was the only memorable sketch of the night.

Pretty average episode for my taste, especially considering a strong comedic actor-host. But a few good laughs, notably on the school board meeting and weekend update were very decent.
I was hoping for Strong, Davidson and Mooney to be all done and gone, but they are all back. Strong reportedly said that she didn't want to be just another busy body with nothing to contribute; which gives away a hint about the writers not including her in their skits for whatever reasons. Davidson is funny but he always seems to be on some kind of a special treatment, as if someone up there is really trying to help him succeed (which is definitely not the usual SNL meritocracy way). And Mooney is so awkward, so unfunny and so rarely used, I don't even know why he is still there. There was a rumour that Michaels asked all of the senior cast members to stay in until 50th season. But this seems unlikely to me.
Sorry to see Bennett gone (Beck Bennett that it). I liked him because he was able to play a variety of funny characters rather than playing the same character in different skits (like Strong, Davidson etc.).
Anyway, another season. I am sure there will be gems and disappointments along the way. And the water is wet.
