Friday was definitely sparse as you say and that has a lot to do with the early start on a weekday - that scheduling needs to be rectified in future events. Saturday was much better attended and Sunday was a fantastic crowd with all things considered.
The world group rounds are always better attended than these playoffs simply because the competition is better. Had India been a 'sexier' draw you'd see more of the casual tennis fans come out and improve the attendance figures for sure.
I'm not sure how you can play any later than 3:00. The Shapovalov match ended at 10:30

I can't imagine Northlands being much better than the corral but it's possible. I think the centrium would be good but February might be tough in the middle of Rebel season. Looks like UBC is front runner again.
As someone currently based on the Left Coast, I could get behind this
/As I recall though, tickets weren't exactly cheap the last time they were at UBC ($300 if memory serves), but a chance to see Denis and possibly Milos in person is tough to pass up.
Laver Cup@LaverCup Federer: "We're playing to honor the legacy of Rod Laver. Borg definitely wants to win and I know McEnroe doesn't want to lose.” #LaverCup
About a year ago, I asked Tennis Canada if they'd come back to Calgary anytime soon. They said the Corral is too outdated in terms of getting proper broadcasting technology and the press area, which I can attest to.
However, they did mention Arena A at WinSport's Markin MacPhail is something they've considered, but scheduling has been an issue in the past.
I thought of that, but I can't imagine you could get more than 2500 in a Tennis configuration unless you sold the first four rows, which would be very much view obstructed.
No linesmen at the ATP NextGen tourney in Milan, the chair umpire will be the only human on court aside from the competitors (and ball kids).
LONDON — There won’t be anyone for players to argue calls with at this tennis tournament: They’re getting rid of the line judges entirely.
The men’s tour announced Monday that the Next Gen ATP Finals, a season-ending event for top 21-and-under players, will feature electronic line-calling for all shots. It’s the first time this is being tried at an ATP tournament.
I think line judges are pretty useless at most small events. Most of them are trained volunteers and get their decisions wrong 50% of the time. Good on the ATP for trying something new.

Of course, if this change becomes the norm, we won't see exchanges like the following any longer...
I think the ATP would love to have Zverev play. He gives definite star power to the tournament, and it does not conflict with the ATP Finals. But the problem, of course, is whether Zverev wants to play two such tournaments back to back at the end of the year.

It would be a fantastic venue to watch tennis but ultimately even if you could cram 3500 people in there, the capacity really isn't enough for a Davis cup event.
This really highlights the need for a 6,000-7,000 seat multi-purpose venue in this city that can handle events like this among other things.

I really think the best option would be to go to 1 singles match on the Friday night so that you can have two matches each day on the Saturday/Sunday. This would likely make the roster/matchup combinations much harder to manage though.

I think the issue is having the doubles match on Saturday. Maybe they can place the doubles match Friday and then have each singles player go Saturday / Sunday. It might make it a bit more exciting with guys only having 12 hrs between matchups. It would make it more important to condition your body for the back to back play, it's no different than most ATP 250,500 or 1000 tournaments. I don't think they get many days off between matches.
I'm definitely not a Damien Cox fan, but there's no denying that he likes the sport of tennis. Pretty good wrap-up on the Davis Cup tie this past weekend.
This past weekend, with Raonic unavailable due to wrist surgery and Pospisil hobbled enough by back issues that he could only play doubles, Shapovalov roared to the rescue, winning both his singles matches against India as Canada won the tie in Edmonton.
This mattered a great deal. India is not a significant world tennis power, and a loss would have been dispiriting and would have sent Canada back into zone competition. Prior to Tel Aviv, Canada had been out of the World Group for seven long years. Now, as part of the 2018 World Group, Canada will have been in the top level of Davis Cup for seven years.
And now Canada is in it to win the whole damn thing.
