Extra loading for express NE trains during hockey games IIRC.

My god, thank you. I've been wondering this for years. I assumed there was no "Off" switch as it's every old train, all summer long. It's too bad they couldn't build a way to vent that heat outwards as well as inwards.

I'd heard it hasn't been used since the olympics. I don't believe I've ever seen it used.

Only for terrible television advertisements that show Calgary Transit loves the Calgary Flames.

Well according to Calgary Transit Twitter they told me to tweet in the future if other trains are too hot.
Not to mention after I tweeted the heat turned off about 10 mins later.

I've heard there's also a separate parallel tunnel to Downtown for that track...any truth to this?

Have to laugh at this opening line on the Green Line open house held in Ogden last night:
Quote:
An city-run open house on transit and development featured a decided lack of threats, shoving or intimidation in southeast Calgary on Tuesday night.
Area residents gathered in the Victory Manor in Ogden to learn more about the Green Line going through their neighbourhood, and more importantly, hear about the new area redevelopment plan that will accompany the LRT line.

Noticed they've been testing single cars of the new trains the past couple days. Seen a couple cruise through downtown Monday and Yesterday. Looks really sleek.

It's been going on for a few weeks now, drivers are being trained on them.

It sounds like there might be one new train in revenue service before the end of the month.

Can't seem to track it down anywhere at the moment. But is there a scheduled date for all when all trains will be operating with 4 cars?

If the issues are sorted out, expect to see new cars shipped in from Sacramento just about as fast as the city can handle taking new ones. Apparently there is a backlog there waiting to be shipped up here. They should be coming at least one per week, if not faster to get rid of the backlog.

Is anyone else having trouble with the new wifi services at the stations? I think I may need to start forgetting those networks as they almost never work (and I did sign up for the guest account).
Anyone know why they didn't put them on the trains themselves like most other places?

I had my training on Monday for the new train and every station we pulled into you could see the looks of amazement of the people on the platform.

Do most other places actually have WiFi along their entire urban rail network rather than just in their stations? London, New York, Paris and Toronto all seem to offer it just at stations. Aside for cities in Asia, I think it would be half at best.
