I was actually thinking about the concept of Oake asking someone about McDavid at the Urinal.

"Do you wish McDavid could shake it for you? Do you think he'd have rough hands but a soft touch?"

Will he softly whisper “let’s go” in my ear?

I figured that would be part of the Kane package. I really want to know if the $2000 upgrade from the Oake to the MacLean is worth it.

19 and then 34

both almost equally awesome
at 19 was old enough to 'enjoy' (ahem) it, and attended every home game the last 2 rounds (after Uni let out), but that was a dominant team- the win felt exhilarating yet expected (despite round one) and really the idea was that was 'first of many'

by 34 had been away from Calgary for 9 years in between, did what I could afford by buying game packs on my return- YOUNG GUNS- (which allowed me access to playoff tickets). Attended every home game - most with my wife- with my parents babysitting 2 under 3 and IT WAS GLORIOUS. and yet the ending

Within the context of holding a man as he urinates this has an entirely different meaning and likely requires, at minimum, one windowless Van.

I rewatched the entire ceremony today with my family and it was way better the second time through!

My son who was born in 2012 was absolutely in awe of Kipper!

The music, the masks, the flexibility, of course the ridiculous highlight reel saves, the crowds, signage, mini Kipper, the C of Red, everything…! Our son had so many questions afterwards and understandably so.

My daughter who is a bit older was also excited to see the Kipper phenomenon.

My wife relived all those memories and she kept looking at me and smiling. When I asked her why later, she told me how happy I was during this era and of course I was smiling and tearing up even though today was the second time around for me watching the incredible ceremony.

My wife and I also watched the After Hours segment in its entirety and we both shared some laughs.

Funniest comment from the my wife, “No mention of shirts off for Kiprusoff”?

Great stuff my everyone involved and of course too many people to mention, but Noodles, Peter Maher, Scott C for writing the montage, the camaraderie with all of Kipper’s former teammates, coach, and don’t forget Depo!

Besides Gelinas being an eliminator, Chris Simon was an absolute beast.

I still think we should do that. Sure, Kane will make some money, but if its our money he has to wear an Oilers Jersey and say whatever we want.

"Say it!!"

I didn't like that they chose a super popular, eastern opponent for Kipper's retirement game. There's certain eastern teams that don't come here often that usually get 2-4k fans in the building (pens, bruins etc) and many of them may have skipped the Kipper thing anyways, but then add in bad weather and roads and even more would just get there for puck drop.

Someone said earlier that Kipper himself picked the date that was most convenient for him, so the team didnt really have a say in it.

Miikka Kiprusoff was 33-14-1-2 in 50 games against the Oilers.
The Flames were dominant against the Oilers during the entirety of Kipper's tenure. Just another reason to look back fondly on it all.

He’s part of the reason the Oilers drafted Hall, and then Nuge a few years later. Aaah the memories… of no good

That was a fun watch, thanks for posting this for those of us who missed it.

I found it pretty on brand that the Sportsnet Youtube channel has a max 720p resolution.

Not sure which season it was… but around that time, the flames went 8-0 against them in a single season. It was the most one-sided season series in flames or oilers history. Can’t really be matched today because the flames don’t play the oilers 8 times a year. It was nice getting to play your rival 8 times under the old system. However, looking back now… that means almost 20% of your season would be against the oilers and Canucks. That’s pretty crazy. Or, even crazier… almost 30% of the flames season was against the Oilers, Canucks and Wild. And kipper was great against all of them - especially Minnesota and Edmonton.
