How does that work for luxury tax purposes? Does that $35MM count against the Mets or the Astros?
Also- this sucks from a Jays perspective. I saw him no hit the Jays when he was previously with the Astros, and I think he's good for a few extra Houston wins down the stretch in the wild card race.

The Mets. Any money the Mets send the Astros to pay down Verlander's contract is treated identically to having that money on their payroll.

Yeah the Mets eating that much salary is rather incredible. Kind of hard to argue that two prospects are worth $50 million so it does make sense for the Astros.
