I think anyone would be hard pressed to identify a clear-cut "starter" in Calgary at this juncture. Elliot and Johnson are pretty equal in my view.
And Edmonton is no good.

He wasn't playing like a number 1, and lost the job outright soon thereafter. Based on this season's performance, I think you have to call him the backup in retrospect.

They're going to have to convince the league to increase roster sizes to have 5 lines for all these superstar forwards.

Staples is becoming a caricature of himself. He's so desperate to stay on side with oil mgmt he can't bring himself to say a negative word about the team or decisions made by PC.
He refuses to accept that without lucking into McDavid the oilers would be perhaps no further along than they were 5 years ago.

What rate of scoring? I mean seriously. The kid looks like he's having a career year this year in the W and he's on track for 20 to 25 goals.
But I guess the Oilers and their fans wouldn't know how to evaluate talent unless he's the consensus number one pick by the hockey news.

Verda is not wrong though. At the time, Elliott was our #1, and the point that was made about how we get backup goalies far more often than the Oilers stands true.

The Edmonton Oilers schedule is a joke. 19 times this season they face a team on the oppositions second night of back to backs. On the flip side, they only play a rested team on their second night of back to backs 8 times.
Looks like the NHL is doing everything in their power to get the Oilers and their new building into the playoffs, wouldn't want to see 11 straight seasons of failure.

What do you mean wrong thread? This exact topic, with those figures, is being discussed by multiple people, about five posts up.

I think the NHL schedule maker must be a huge Oiler fan. It is ridiculous. 2nd time in a week that a team plays the night before in Vancouver and then must travel to Edmonton to face a team on 2 full days of rest. Not surprising, just like with officials. What is a penalty shot for McDavid isn't for every other player in the league. That penalty shot they gave him in game 1 still pisses me off.

The schedule is what it is. Too much whining and not enough E=NG going on right now.

If Rejean didn't have the Oilers to whine about he wouldn't have anything to post. You'd think after 15 years he'd have some new material!

Well, not like like. But I have watched a couple games this year. I might even get a TV, that's how excited I am!

Getting a TV is a good idea. If you haven't bought one since the Oilers were in the playoffs, you are in for a treat. They now have high definition TVs. Even though an Oilers playoff game has not been broadcast in HD, nor has there been a tweet about an Oilers playoff game, all the rest of the teams have had this experience.
