Heart of the Swarm goes live at 1:00 am Mountain Time. Hopefully they don't pull a Sim City 5 launch.

Well, this is part 2 from Wings of Liberty. You'd hope they figured it out the first time around.

Just walked into the EB at Coventry about 20 mins ago and bought their last copy of the Collector's Edition. Walked out feeling pretty boss.

Anyone play this yet? Thoughts? I've held off buying HotS because I grew tired of WoL fairly quickly. The campaign was the only thing I actually enjoyed from Wings of Liberty and is pretty much the only reason I am somewhat interested in Heart of the Swarm.

Sorry,
This adds absolutely nothing to the current discussion, but I bought Wings of Liberty from EB Games for $20 on a whim earlier in the week, this campaign has made it an awesome purchase. I played StarCraft (1 and expansion set) growing up a lot, but for some reason skipped this one.
The modifications you can do to your base, vehicles and infantry in the campaign with the story line have made it a really fun game. Having goliaths shoot air at the same time as ground is fun to watch, and having a turret on my bunker is an amazing idea - it’s too bad none of this exists in multiplayer but I get why.
Best part – I can’t cheat! In StarCraft 1, I would always get bored in the campaign and eventually enter a cheat (sometimes I would make it a couple levels, other nearly a whole race), this time, no matter how annoyed or how much I struggle, I have to just beat it!
On a side note, one of my technology research projects for the Zerg was hidden underground flame thrower turrets – anyone have any idea how to build them?

I feel the same way. I think I'll wait for it to go on sale. Easier to justify the price that way if I am only playing the campaign.

Also, you build it using your SCVs.

Played about 3 hours of campaign last night and I gotta say it's been pretty entertaining so far.

Started the HOTS campaign, a little over dramatic for my liking but cool nonetheless. Seems like it has the same kind of features as the Terran campaign with the upgrades being mutations instead. I do hope it's a little longer than the first one too.

Yeah blizzard usually does a solid job on campaigns, and their cinematics make it even better. New units will be interesting in monobattles and other custom maps.

I just hope the new units fix up the standard games.

Watching a slow install, waiting for it to go. The CE was pretty swank, have to say.

So if I were to only pick this game up for the campaign would you say it's worth the $40? I have absolutely no interest in the multiplayer this go around.

So far, I am enjoying it - I am not sure however that I will replay it as much as I did the WoL campaign - one thing I liked about WoL was that you were stuck with your upgrades - which means I played through it a whole bunch of times from the start to try out different combos.
This one, since you can really change almost any upgrade on the fly, I'm not sure if the re-playability is there as much.

unrelated, but considering how they do such a good job with the story in other games fact, I was sorely disappointed by the storyline in D3.
regardless, the campaign is the only reason I bought HOTS, so far so good.

Just bought it yesterday and started the campaign.
Pretty solid. I am loving the storytelling style. I'm sure the whole plot will be extremely cliche and filled with tropes, but I am enjoying the experience so far.
I don't think you can really go wrong with Blizzard games even just for single player. It's absolutely worth the $40, but I guess you can wait a couple months for it to go 50% off.
