Or maybe because there are more things to life than being insane about sports teams.

Calgarians should wear it as a badge of pride, not shame.

Being supportive and pragmatic about your local sporps team is awesome. Imagine having the ####heads they have in Edmonton.

You know who's won even fewer playoff series?

The Toronto Maple Leafs.

The biggest, richest, most powerful and profitable franchise in the NHL has only won one best-of-7 series in the salary cap era. Are they not a serious organization?

The Canadian teams are little more than developmental squads for the American franchises. Jonathan Huberdeau was five days old the last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup. It won't be long before there are no active players in the NHL who have been alive to see a Canadian team win.

I’m not sure what ‘asking hard questions’ gets you other than acrimony between players, management, the press, and fans.

The people involved with the Flames need Francis to ask them before they realize they’ve not been deep in the playoffs for 20 years?

As fans, you have to hope the right people land the job in steering the organization. Ultimately we don’t have a say in who is hired or fired, and that won’t change even if we had media regularly reminding the owner or president or gm about the lack of cups.

This is not true.

And this is irrelevant.

However, even if these things were true and relevant, they would completely destroy your point about the Flames not being a ‘serious organization’. What are they supposed to do, move the team to the U.S.?

I see no path for the Flames to win the Stanley Cup under the current rules. Most players we draft who make it to the NHL take off as soon as they can, usually for a US team.

Raising the draft age by a two or three years would be the only way the Flames can ice a team capable of competing for a Stanley Cup. We'd be drafting NHL ready players instead of hoping prospects will blossom and be convinced to stick around once they reach free agency.

By ‘most’, you mean three?

The league tried that at one time. The courts ruled that it was illegal age discrimination.

Anyway, this STILL does not support you in blaming the Flames for being, and I quote again, not ‘a serious organization’. According to your criteria, there seems to be no possible way it COULD be ‘serious’, so I really don't get why you keep bitching about the team's management.

Not sure about putting him in as the last shooter in the shootout with the game on his stick… I know the coach is likely trying to find some magic because many of the wranglers forward were invisible tonight, but that’s quite a lot of pressure to put on a kid that’s only been here for 24 hours

He only a few months older than what Hathaway was when the Flames signed him as a UFA, and that turned out to be a pretty good signing.

He's over a year older than Hathaway was when signed his ELC and over 2 years older than Hathaway was when he played his first pro game in the Flames' organization.

It's 4 months before Morton's 25th birthday. Hathaway signed his ELC 7 months before his 24th birthday, and he had already played a full season under an AHL contract with Adirondack.
