I was curious what you thought on that, since you've been saying Kadri wants to stay since he has settled his family here, etc.

I don't think Kadri is going anywhere right away, at least not this offseason for sure.

Honestly - flames should go all in for Makar then. Make him captain at that point.

I have zero faith Makar will become a Flame. It's fun to joke about but he's a franchise player and IMO he'll never reach free agency. The Avs will lock him to an 8 year extension before he even plays a game on the final year of his current deal.

And I don't think he will want to sign an 8 year extension there, so him being a franchise player and the Avs locking him up before his final year is moot. I didn't think I needed to add that and it was obvious what I was alluding to.

It’s only a rumor, but I’ve heard Makar recently purchased high value property in Calgary, which could suggest he has his roots here. I think it’s more than just the place he came from. Could mean something, could mean nothing as far as his career goes, though. I’ve read here on this forum from several people that Koenecny lives here offseason and it sounds like the Flyers are intent on extending him.

Truthfully, it’s too far down the road to start making these predictions. A lot can and will happen between now and then. How’s the new building? Are the Flames emerging as a contender that would suit a7 year deal? Are the Av’s on the opposite trajectory looking like todays Pittsburgh Penguins? Im those things, and more, will be taken into account.

Didnt Konecny marry a Calgary girl? He'll be interesting to watch. I suspect he'll extend in Philly but if he doesn't he's only got one season left now. He'll be 28 if he makes to to UFA, is a winger and will command a hefty contract.

Hahah if nothing else it's fun to dream on as a fan. Makar is an unbelievable player but also seems like a good dude. Would be incredible to see come home if that was (for whatever reasons) something he was interested in doing at that time.
