It was really cute a month ago that people thought trading Backlund would fetch a 1st rounder.

Be lucky to even get a mid rounder. He's an offensive black hole, with no signs of it turning around, and on the wrong side of 30 to boot.

Yeah, and this was a pretty good demonstration of how this can be a pretty fuzzy call IMO. He let the puck find him, but he wasn't controlling it as I'm assuming this rule is influenced by

Honestly, that should be offside if we aren't evaluating the arbitrary ruling of possession. Same crap that the NFL fumbles (pun absolutely intended)

This period is all on Rittich this time though. Both unacceptable goals to give up as a NHL goalie. Even as a backup.

Completely shifted the momentum.

Agree 100%. He just looks super old all of a sudden. Even older that Frolik!

He’s weak, slow and has boards for hands.

Hit the hard reset button in between periods.

Feels like they're losing but it's 0-0 again. Take a deep breath, and get skating in the 3rd. One of those games that's there for the taking.

Let’s put the pitchforks down... couple of soft goals, but Rittich has saved a few sure goals that other goalies would of let in. He’s keeping them in it. Flames need to be better in the third.

What is irritating is Johnny gets called on the carry it backwards into the zone several times this year. Which is the problem with that rule cuz it leaves a lot to interpretation of the refs which is not so good considering they can barely get the clear rules correct.

All in all though that period is on Davex but he's a trooper and they've battled back for him plenty in the third to win so.. yeah pretty standard flames 2nd period.

Just so we're clear, you think that Backlund's value in the NHL is a 3rd or 4th round pick? IF we're lucky, no less.

Interesting.

They have a better winning % than the Flames and a better goal differential.
