He is right where he should be (tonight) based on the last few games.
Im still thinking we win 5-4 SJ always comes out strong and we always come out slow with the tide shifting as the game plays on.
Wasnt a fan of the call on Smid... could have hit Havlat 10x harder and Havlat did tip it in.
Was even less of a fan of the missed over the glass that was 2 feet in front of the ref and the offside on Bouma's stretch pass which I watched 5 times over and still don't see the lifted leg until the puck is on his stick!
|
Well it also happened to be that he put the puck on the net on a wrap around.
Dont really care what he did with the puck prior, but at least it was deep in the zone being controlled.

No, I think we do need a different system against big and fast teams.
The sharks are all too fast to win races to get dumped pucks and they are all too strong to expect our boys to be able to win many board battles.
That said, skating it into the zone isn't working either. I just think that hockey is hard, and it's a hell of a lot harder when you're playing a bigger stronger faster team who are playing like they want a win.
On a positive note, despite the two goals against, Berra has done as much as you could ask of him. We might have a decent starter on our hands.

It does when we have 1 defensive defenseman.

Don't get me wrong, the flames stunk that period but props has to be given to SJ for their play. Extremely hard on the forecheck and very quick breakouts.
2/3 of hockey left.... can't wait for the mood to shift over the next 20 min !!!

What about the previous games and last year where we were crap defensively?
Oh yeah last year Iginla was the cause of all our defensive problems these young guys listen better. That's why we are bottom 3 defensive team in the NHL.

I disagree that the compete level has been "very high."
They are hardly skating.

I agree with Realtor 1. San Jose always comes out fast, the Flames come out poor. If history repeats itself, it'll be the Flames outplaying the Sharks by the 3rd, it's just a question of if it'll be enough.
Still predicting a 1 goal win... For who, I don't know.

Ya they have plenty of time to wake up, Berra has kept this game from getting out of hand. Flames are lucky that they still have a chance to come back, lets hope they come out of the gates flying here.

The Preds won't finish lower than us. Look at their D core compared to ours and their goaltending. If we keep up this suckage we'll be in Oiler territory in no time.

If Backlund hit him I didn't see it. It looked like it went right by his face (although I saw it from behind). I have a tough time believing he was acting there, but didn't see a thing.

What happened with Couture? Didn't look like much, did he slide into the boards hard? Just don't see what happened there
