I think we will see a lot of disjointed performances with plenty of goals for both sides in the early part of this season. We’ve got a whole new midfield and we’re still getting used to a new system.

Good news is though that both MacAllister and Szoboszlai look like great signings. Still need a 6 to go along with Endo, although I’m not sure how likely that is to happen and this point.

They have lots of possesion v 10 men but it's hard to wrap your head around how poor chelsea look finishing wise relative to the money they have spent. Outside of sterling they look like they need a lucky break if they are gonna score

Lucky for them they seem to have the schedule makers in their pocket as well as the ffp guys

Luton, wimbledon, forest at home coming up then bournemouth away. Then a moderate test against villa and they get burnley and fulham.

Throw it back a couple years and that feels like a league one schedule. Couldn't ask for a better opportunity ot get their sea legs

Almost £200 million combined for Antony and Mudryk. Ajax and Shaktar with monumental robberies there.

Some of the big clubs, especially chelsea, just seem to be prioritizing youth/age way way too much right now. Paying massive premiums for these guys who don't really have the experience to fully leverage their ability yet at the direction of some analytics guys with very few veterans to support them.

Strategy only pays off if you can be patient and wait to start winning and you wonder what will happen at a club like chelsea if caceido and co struggle badly off the hop.

Too many 'Antonys' in the Premier League now, it seems like every team has at least one or two.

They're going to have to start going by nicknames like 'An-two-ny' or something. Not that that would help much.

I'm not thrilled that it was West Ham, but that's so hilarious. West Ham looked abysmal and somehow they still won. It's hilarious to see Chelsea and their billion dollar outlay fail so miserably.

Money wins Championships, but you still have to spend it wisely.

This is the thing with a lot of these clubs, especially the Saudi backed clubs, they know they can piss money away without consequences, in fact, they do it intentionally, but their definition of success is washing that cash rather than growing it so they dont care about results.

United have made a U-turn, Greenwood is out.

Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.

All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.

Too bad they already killed any goodwill around making the right choice by being forced into it.

What a dumb club.

haha, even their statement is garbage. "Trust us, he actually did nothing wrong, you just don't have the full picture"

CLUB STATEMENT ON MASON GREENWOOD
Manchester United has concluded its internal investigation into the allegations made against Mason Greenwood.

Our process commenced in February 2023, following all charges against Mason being dropped. Throughout, we have taken into account the wishes, rights and perspective of the alleged victim along with the club’s standards and values, and sought to collate as much information and context as possible. This has required us to proceed with sensitivity and care to obtain evidence not in the public domain, including from those with direct knowledge of the case.

Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.

Good decision by United and now it's just a question of which gross club is going to take him and give him a second chance. Plenty of deplorables to choose from!

exactly. It's pretty much "well we wanted him back, but you forced us to ditch him" ... grim and spineless, but it's not exactly surprising.

It's so dumb. He's gone last year and they had a pretty good season. This should have been a slam dunk decision and they managed to totally #### it up.

Wrexham are fun. After 4 matches in League 2, 13 goals for, 13 goals against.

In other news...

Ben Foster Retires....again.

Quote:
He came out of retirement to sign a short-term deal with Wrexham in March before saving a stoppage-time penalty against Notts County the following month to put Wrexham within touching distance of automatic promotion from the National League.

"The honest truth is that my performances this season haven't reached the level I demand of myself, and I feel that now is the right time to retire," Foster said in a statement.

Well there is a team that has no issue playing a rapist already, so it shouldn't be that hard to slot him in.

Arsenal have not bought well in this window. They are in desperate need of a striker and Nketiah is proving that today.

Should be two up and it is scoreless.
