I can't eat Viet subs because of this. It always cuts the roof of my mouth. Even if i step on them and squish them flat!
Yet Viet Sub bread in Calgary is way better than anything you can get in grocery stores. I like the Satay beef and human blood sauce that forms though, complete with hot chilis in open wound adrenaline. Its like wasabi, but cooler.
Unless something is afoot, 162nd is about to have two 7-11s about 300 yards apart, and that's not including the one 2km closer to Macleod.
It’s the ones in suburban residential strip malls that seem to have mostly shut down. There used to be three 7-11s, three Mac’s, and one independent convenience store in the subdivisions around where I grew up. Today there’s one 7-11 and two independents.

I think you guys just have an Eating Disorder. Can not eat properly. Never had an issue with bread cutting my mouth before.

How does everywhere on earth get better bread than here?
Remember when Aviv Fried had those bakeries (sidewalk citizen) that were touted as the best. Everything tasted like blood because my mouth was bleeding from the razor sharp rock hard edges of the bread.
this bread is great, does anyone have any oral sutures?
Altitude. Because of low pressures, things rise and evaporate too quickly.
They have better stuff than slurpees. They have these Smoothie machines that blend frozen fruit and yogurt that are amazing and only $1.75cdn. My kids and I actually got kicked out of one of the 7-11s for drinking inside the store... lol
I guess you are not allowed to eat or drink inside.

The McDonald's by Ranchmans has been fenced off for a week or so. I assume it must be renos as it's always a busy place.
The big sign outside says renos and please visit Deerfoot Meadows instead. It was a modernized McDonalds already so I am wondering if they are doing some kind of expansion?

Brand revitalization, employee automation/elimination and more importantly an environment where you will be okay to pay $18 for a big mac.

I was down in the States last month and stopped at a few different McDonald's in different states and was surprised by how many only had the touch-screen kiosks for ordering. Face-to-face interaction with their employees was all but eliminated.

On the topic of bread, Save On Food opened near me a few years ago, and they have Portuguese buns (I think that's what they were called) which are amazing. Soft, tasty and way better than the tripe that passes for fresh bread other grocers sell.

That's pretty much the same here. There is usually 1 till and it's never manned in most Mcdonalds here. Anyone who tries to order at the till is usually waiting a long time before someone in the kitchen notices someone standing there.

Yeah, but at least it's still an option. The places I'm talking about didn't have a till at all.
