Last night at about 1130, a grader drove head-on into the transformer for our giant condo building. The transformer blew up and we lost all power immediately. We only just got it back a couple of hours ago.
If anyone who was part of the repair crew happens to be in this forum, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. That must have been one hell of a long, cold 14 hours to repair the damage.

Until you pull into a parking lot at least. Once I got out of my apartment lot, I thought the same thing on the roads: definitely bad / winter conditions, but nothing Snowmaggedoney....until I got to my work parking lot. That is when the gong-show ensued.
Same with getting out after work, if it wasn't for that trusty mini-shovel I keep in my car for just such occasions, I'd probably still be there. So happy to be home, what a mess today.

To the putz from a few weeks ago who said something along the lines of "we've only had 46% of our expected yearly snowfall" well congratulations, the remainder basically landed in the last 2 days.

So...that means no more snow for the rest of the year? Right?

Yup, that one coming to realization to the surprise of nobody else
Oh, you mean we haven't received half of our annual snowfall, but it hasn't even been our snowiest months yet? hmmmm....

Did you just gloss over the "predict the rest of the season as you will"
Blame the weather network for pointing it out to everyone in their February outlook.
We knew what was coming after the ground was bare for most of the last two months.
Just take solace in knowing we're probably 75% through now!

Snow shoveling after a dump like this is like an annual check up. Really gives you a sense of where your cardiovascular health is..

I know quite a few German cars have the same system. It's nice because you don't get fingerprints on the deck lid, which can annoy a guy who likes to keep his car clean. So, yeah, whatever this movie is and whoever this actor is: nice job.

The strugs were out in full force today. Driving super slow, struggling with lane placement, white knuckling, just generally looking stressed out with the conditions, which totally annoyed me.

Transit is a mess too. Was stuck on a bus now waiting for a train.

I bought heated socks, made the ride in better. Took me 30 minutes, which is still faster than the bus.

I had a pretty good ride, but I wish we’d stop picking up everybody along Centre St. This is supposed to be an express bus to downtown. There are enough buses running along Centre St that we shouldn’t have to stop so frequently. Like does Calgary Transit get kickbacks from Tim Hortons to stop there?

That's a decent size transfer location, so it makes sense to stop there and 16th ave.

I wouldn’t say it’s too significant. Like one person will usually get on from there, but it doesn’t seem like a worthwhile stop from my experience, especially when you’ve got the #3 and #301 running so frequently.
Rarely does anyone get off at the 78th or 40th in the morning, just picking up people that would have hopped on any bus heading downtown.
16th makes sense, besides the downtown stops, that’s the only place people disembark between our community and downtown.

I find this light constant trickle of snow much more annoying than a single big dump of snow. I just want to shovel once and be done with it

It also benefits those who live near those stops, I would take it over the #2 as it got me home a good 20 minutes quicker some days, even with a walk at the end. My wife takes it when the #2 doesn't show up, and it is much quicker than the 3.
It's a bus, it's going to stop occasionally. Basically what you are looking for is a taxi.
