How come I keep hearing about how Matt Canada is ruining Pittsburgh? Kenny Pickett is awful. Shanahan couldn't run an offense through him

Oh no doubt Pickett is feces. He can't make most NFL throws, doesn't make good decisions, just a prototypical backup QB. We can pretty much add the Steelers to the QB carousel this coming offseason.

Mike Tomlin is so underappreciated as a head coach. You give that roster and starting QB to 99% of head coaches and it's a 2-6 team.

He performed pretty well given the constant pressure he was facing in the pocket. He's got some serious arm talent to work with if he can improve the rest of his game. Kind of Mahomes-like the way he could throw off his back foot with velocity and flick balls to the sidelines. Given there's a serious issue in professional football in regards to lack of QB talent it's kind of strange that a kid with his arm talent would slip into day two of the draft but it seemed like there was a lot of negative momentum building about him as the draft approached. I always thought being cocky was a desirable QB trait but apparently a lot of teams disagree.

yes and no. He hired Canada and kept him for yet another season, effectively wasting another year of a QB on a rookie contract. And he was very much involved in the drafting of Pickett as well. He's an outstanding coach, no doubt - but he's also the reason for "that roster and starting QB".
It's a shame they are wasting the prime of Watt, Minkah and Highsmith as well as the last years of Heyward with Kenny Pickett and Matt Canada.
